Just this afternoon I got some interesting information about the DCPC, or as called in the rest of Europe “Code 95”
As I’m working for a UK daughter company of a Dutch parent company as a T.M., I come sometimes across some interesting information.
As we are all in the EEC, and all follow the rules, how could it be that one country has a different interpretation as another country of the same rule?
Why is the British Government not following this example?
The British Government love doing this, they get a regulation from the EU and then gold plate it and make it worse and more bureaucratic. The press get hold of the story and blame the EU for it all.
Great for the British Government they have even more sticks to beat us with whilst somebody else gets the the blame for it.
Meanwhile other Countries in Europe introduce a far more common sense law that fullfills the requirements of the original EU legislation.

The UK law on DCPC makes it the driver’s responsibility to get their 35hrs training sorted,
I never seen that anywhere?
None of us welcome training, I’ve help my HGV for 32 years & lke a lot of others I feel I know what I need to know to carry out my work. However, it has been nice to return to the classroom for a while & while a lot of it was oring, I did learn a few things from it & at the end of the day, we have to do it anyway so I thought I’d get on & do it.
I can also understand why drivers should sort out their own training for the DCPC, my mate employs 8 drivers, why should he sort out their DCPC? they could leave any time & he’d have paid for it.
I’m only a one man band so it doesn’t effect me, I did my own any way. I did my 5th module last Saturday & now just waiting for the card to turn up. My modules cost me £50 a time which I think is good value.
If my mate paid for his drivers, it would be £450 a module including his own fee plus his drivers would want paying & to me that’s a bit unfair.
On the basis of the CPC referred to in Article 6 and the
CPC referred to in Article 8(1), Member States’ competent
authorities shall mark, taking into account the provisions of
Article 5(2) and (3) and Article 8, the Community code
provided for in paragraph 2 of this Article alongside the corresponding
categories of licence:
– either on the driving licence,
– or on the driver qualification card drawn up in accordance
with the model shown in Annex II.
The driver qualification card issued by Member States shall be
mutually recognised. When the card is issued, the competent
authorities shall check the validity of the driving licence whose
number is mentioned on the card.

Why is it so unfair for employers to pay for training, as ultimately they will gain most by reduced fuel costs and less damage.
As for the arguement about driver leaving after getting the DCPC< if every employer has to pay, then someone will have paid for the training of the driver you take on to replace the ones who left you!
