ROAD CHARGES NOW to be charged in POLAND
please read the following
Have just been given this site below from the German site I use please read all those
who go to or through POLAND it may effect you ,

Here is the LINK
it is very informative and is in ENGLISH so be warned
as fines will be raised against those who do not
complies with the Road charges ,

There is also the issue that the MAUT system seems to be faulty, and sometimes it does not inform you that you run out of money and should top it up. If that happens, you have to pay penalty for every gate you were passing, and to appeal from that it’s a bloody menace. Of course the autorithies claim everything is all right, but almost every week there is a case of someone having to pays 100 000s of zlotys penalty… So be careful and make sure you have always enough money on your box.

Hi, I’ve just done my first trip over the water. When I got off the ferry I wasn’t sure if I should alter the time on the tacho to local time? My mate said to leave it on uk time, but I didn’t think that was right. Any advice is gratefully awaited. Cheers.

I think under the skin it operates at the same universal time anyway, so altering woudl only changing it for your reference… I think you don’t have to. But I stand to be corrected.

Orys, Sorry I forgot to say I’m still on the analogue charts. I don’t know if that makes a difference.

If you change time on the tacho, you will be one hour of rest short… You woudl then have to make notes on the charts… I would leave it on UK time.

Analogue tachographs ALWAYS stay on home country time. Look in GV262 for official confirmation. Your mate was right.
In winter it should be set to GMT, in summer BST.

Digital tachographs always stay on UTC (which is the same as GMT for ordinary folks like us).
This is the time which will be printed on any printouts and is the internal time of your digi-tacho.
You can alter the displayed time to show BST or ECT if you like. When you do, there is a large black spot next to the time on your tacho display. If it’s set to display GMT there is no black spot.

Driving Bans Austria 2014:

The most driving bans are the same than the last year.Only a few points are plus.

New truck driving bans in Austria Austria is close more streets for trucks.

From 1 April, bans apply to heavy traffic over 3. 5 tonnes in Upper Austria and Salzburg’s Salzkammergut region.
From 1 April, bans apply Salzkammergut in the Upper Austria and Salzburg for the heavy transport over 3. 5 tons, say the truck traffic. The basis for the bans is an opinion, that indicates that the truck traffic over the Pötschenpass and Wolfgang Lake Road has been disproportionately since 2007.

The Salzkammergut road (B145) between Bad Goisern and the Pötschenhöhe is a driving ban for motor vehicles over 3. 5 tonnes. The Hallstatt road (L 547) over the Koppen pass will be blocked as well for the transit of trucks. Although the L 547 is not suitable for heavy traffic, the team could try however, to use the road, dodging reportedly on the part of the authorities.

In the Federal State of Salzburg, bans also apply to truck on the Wolfgangsee Highway between Koppl and Strobl and IM Ennstal between old market and Mandling from 1 April. A geographic area within the target and source traffic is intended to ensure that the regional traffic is not cut off. Immediately at the beginning of the zones notice boards indicate the prohibitions, as well on the highways in the area of the relevant slopes in the Salzkammergut.

In the first weeks of the ban controlled very intensively, to bring the scheme quickly into the consciousness of the truck driver, warned the State Governments.

Hi Simon

I came acroos this website for all sorts of good and up-to-date info:

http://www.internationaltransportforum.org/

As an example, I answered a dimensions query in another forum with this:

http://www.internationaltransportforum.org/europe/road/pdf/dimens.pdf

This one is useful for authorised weights:

http://www.internationaltransportforum.org/europe/road/pdf/weights.pdf

I hope you find it useful.

Those are great Dave, thanks.

Here’s a site from the German insurance industry about load securing.

English is selectable right at the start. There is an extensive section dealing with load securing, with police photos showing what they found, and what they expected, during stop-checks.

It helps if you know where the goalposts are!!

For those doing TIR work, this is the one to have (You also need Adobe reader)

http://www.unece.org/trans/bcf/tir/handbook/english/newtirhand/TIR-6Rev2EN_Bookmarks.pdf

This is downloadable and printable, but check your printer paper first
