Hi,thanks for the info, I don’t remember your dad but I did know John Hawson who was also based at Wooton Basset. He was the nightman on the Borg Warner contract between Kenfig and Letchworth.
He would drop his trailer at Kenfig to be tipped and reloaded then run trailers between Tondu and the Abbey before returning to Wooton Basset.
Regards, Allan

Heres some more Welsh F88’s.

Hi Graham,
Nice to hear you still have a motor, looking forward to seeing it! Cheer’s Pete

Hi all. I hope everyone is keeping well, and no doubt looking forward to getting out and about soon.
Over the past few weeks spoke to my sisters and friends back in the U.K., all are keeping busy with chores around the house.
I’m currently still working as I work for a dedicated U.S. Postal service contractor, considered essential services. I do have to carry authorization letters from the Postal Service to show law enforcement if stopped to and from work along with my federal government postal ID. Previously only done this in hurricane season when curfews are in place.
The whole State of Florida is on a stay at home policy except for essential workers with night time curfews for most counties. Daytime same as U.K., grocery shopping, emergency hospital or doctors visits. Universities, schools etc all on -line until end of term.
Whilst the business to business priority parcel business has slowed down, business to consumer is keeping the volumes up thanks to on line shopping. Everyone seems to be spending their stimulus money before they get it.
The traffic has finally slowed down after a mass exodus of tourists and snow birds due to theme park and resort closures.
I have never seen so many Ontario tags leaving the State, it was like a convoy. So much crap information put more people than necessary on the road at the same time probably exposing them to the virus and carrying it with them to their destinations. Whilst many were heading home northbound, idiots from hot spots like New York and Louisiana we’re heading to Florida! Florida State Troopers put road blocks up to turn them around, only to head to other places possibly spreading the virus. Total cluster K, I tell you!
Hope everyone remains healthy,
Paul

Good to see your OK Paul. Tke care in this horrible time we are in.

Hi Graham. So far doing ok thanks.I hope you are all doing well back in Abercynon.
I feel very fortunate as I am able to get out and carry on fairly normal. Going into work and seeing everyone wearing face masks is definitely strange.
Most Saturdays I meet my daughter for lunch in Valdosta Georgia. It’s my relay point with my colleague who comes out of Atlanta. Rhiann is in university there and this week we couldn’t eat anywhere so just met in the Burger King car park, how strange is that! I had two dozen eggs for her, so legitimate reason to meet up under current circumstances.
Like most of us here, I’m not a fan of staying home.
Roughly eight years ago I spent seven days in hospital, most of it in intensive care with no windows.
When I got out I saw life in a different way. I live life as if every day could be my last.
When this dreadful episode passes, I hope people will be close, as in the old days when everyone looked out for each other.

Regards Paul

Hi Paul,
Great to hear from you mate.Crazy times, surreal sights everywhere whilst the pandemic is still upon us.I know what you mean about you looking at things differently,I did the same thing myself, after our wonderful NHS saved our sons life, after contracting sepsis back in May 2018.
Here are a couple of images of Brian Williams’ Later MAN and a newspaper article he has saved, telling the story of a friends nightmare experience on Middle East work.
