Hi DEANB,

Thanks very much indeed.

I took this photo more years ago than I wish to remember.
The cab is by Marshall’s of Cambridge - my thoughts ……………………

  1. I think that it was taken about 12 (or more) years ago as it was about that time that I went digital and this is a scan from one of my oldish
35mm negatives. (I did not keep records of the dates or location of my photos).
  2. It was taken outside the Leyland Assembly Plant - This would suggest that it is a LHD Leyland built chassis with 10 stud wheels front and rear.
The rear mid-lift looks like an 8 stud.
  3. It is a low floor, crew cab and appears to have two front seats and three/? four raised seats behind.
  4. Specialist low-height airfield or military vehicles would (generally) not require such a large crew accommodation. Bin wagons, probably would.

Hi TROOPER2,

Thanks for that very useful pic.

my lasting memory of SA RCVs were as spare motors when the Dennis elite /2 were in for service on a Friday, the one I used to get 6x4 would not reverse into a very tight alley that you never gave a second thought to in a dennis ,you had to finish the street off, turn and go back to it from the other side and you could just get in .It always flt the steering was better on one lock than the other.( alley did not have enough room in front to shunt forwards so it was a one shot reverse) jimmy
