Colnbrook Logistic Centre

Anybody familiar with this place ? I think it is some sort of transit place for stuff that is going to Heathrow airside ? Given us a slot for 10-30 tomorrow and their office will not bring it forward, which is a pain. Anybody know if they stick rigidly to times or are likely to just take it if we rock up early, 6 pallets in a curtainsider.

I went there a lot last year, there not very strict on times, on the first day i got there 2hrs early, but when i was doing it, everytime i had an ■■■■■■ car follow me over to heathrow to tip airside. Have they said you will be leaving the pallets at the clc? Because tipping airside and tipping it there is very different. If going airside its a ballache

Thanks for that, not sure if it is tipped there to be honest. The stuff is for a construction project that is airside so I had better go and find out.

Ah right, if it is airside then you will drive into the warehouse where they strip out the cab of everything that is removable, check it then put it back unless its liquids/fluids but you do get the option of leaving stuff in a locker where only you have the key for before going in. The escorting vehicle stays behind you the whole time going over to the airside entrance, you have a map to follow, then at the entrance you go through another scanner, then you follow them once airside. Oh and your boots and personal possessions go through a scanner before heading over airside, so make sure your socks dont have any holes in

It’s actually my son that’s taking it, and yes he normally does

Thank you very much for your advice, much appreciated, just trying to find out from the steel fabricators that we are taking it for. They are not installing it themselves so were not sure. Don’t particularly mind either way as they will pay for what we have to do but it would suit us to get back up here within the day.

Not teaching you to ■■■■ eggs mate, but have you got air-side insurance, I’m sure std Insurance policies do not cover air-side manoeuvres…

That’s a fair comment and I did check that and they said they would cover us but in the end it seems the stuff is going into storage at CLC anyway :unamused:

Just got back now and if it helps anybody else they were efficient with no problems, unloaded as soon as he arrived, early

I was in the warehouse about 18 months ago for a 12.30pm slot, tipped and out the gate by 8.30am, sound set of lads on the forks.

Happy days then, at least he didn’t have to clear his cab, nor get the holed socks out! i only had the misfortune of airside only work :unamused:
