Hi,I am a tipper driver and have been for 6 years, I have a great relationship which my boss who runs 25 lorries 8 being grab tippers.
I have the opportunity to become an owner driver with a grab lorry, I have the funds to buy a lorry, pay for OL and good rates on maintenance and fuel and can operate from the yard my boss runs.
All opinions welcome, what do you think my main worries should be?
Like I said, I have great support from my current boss but reading forums like these it makes me feel in easy.Thanks in advance

My advice is that you make sure that you have your own ‘O’ licence, because it’s totally illegal for you to own a truck and run it on somebody else’s ‘O’ licence.
It’s also very easy to get caught.
It’s pretty serious, up to and including impounding of the vehicle if operated illegally, with little or no hope of it being returned. 
From the info you’ve given (you didn’t mention having your own operator’s CPC) I’d suggest that you’d have to give it some very serious thought before you commit yourself to anything like this.
