This morning coming from Stockport the slip road at junction 4 of the M60 to the M56 was closed. I got lost trying to find a way to the M6 as the M62 west slip was also closed. Could I have come off the M60 at junction 5 and got on the 56 that way (so approaching the 56 from the other direction on the M60)? Got the same route again tomorrow morning!
Looks as tho the turnaround could be junction 5 as 4 doesn’t seem to have slip to go back on the other side. Or possibly junction 3 and take the A34 down to the A500 and then M6. Anyone any thoughts please?
J11, A57 through irlam is normally a good route to the M6 when the closures are on
m60 j5 only goes north into manchester, but you could have turned around at the next junction put the a5103
m60 j6 you could have turned around and gone back upto j5
m60 j7 a56 south all the way to j7 m56
m60 j10/11 like idrive said, a57 all the way to junc 21 on the m6.

If coming past Stockport, stay on M60 until jcn 6 (Sale), then double back and pick up M56 south.
It’s only the Sharston link road that being resurfaced.
Where in Stockport you coming from as theve opened new airport bypass . Starts near lyme park comes out near the airport straight onto the m56.
If going north on the m6 stay on m60 then up the m61.
Anyway hate to be bearer of bad news once theve finished resurfacing Sharston link which hopefully be in a couple of weeks. There then transforming the m56 into a smart motorway j 5 to 8 roughly. So be overnight closures 50mph for God knows how long.
