JfD Petition

Received 2 completed petition sheets in post, 34 names in all, but nothing to say who sent them

anyway thanks very much anonymous

You know who you are

Well done to Anonymous.
It is vital that we get as many signatures as is physically possible, even get signatures off foriegn drivers, they are just as likely to be affected by this cruel and unjust legislation that causes innocent, or questionably guilty drivers to be kept rotting in jail.
If a Pilot of an airliner is not responsible for what is on his aircraft, nor a Ships Captain responsible, then WHY should a HGV/PSV driver be treated differently.

The more signatures, the more power to get something done, and the sooner the better.

Sorry to be pedantic old chap but an Aircraft Captain and ship Captain ARE solely responsible for their vessel, its cargo and occupants. When in international territory they both have sovereign authority so the buck stops with them.

Anyway! WELL DONE ANON,

CM

you are correct when you say they are responsible for their cargo but under International Law they are not responsible for the CONTENTS of that cargo as a truck driver is. They are only responsible for the saftey of it.

that is why a train driver coming from France with illegals on board cannot be fined the same as a truck driver can or the pilot of an aircraft if anything untoward is found in the cargo whether it be freight or belonging to a passenger

Sorry Ian  being finicky, splitting hairs, etc

Yeah - I know.
Made you smile though, eh??

Sorry all, but I have joined this debate a little late and may therfore go over old ground.
Where can we get a petition sheet from?
If there is one on line that can be printed off, could you plese give details of where I can find it, If not can we get one loaded onto this website. That way we can all get our hands on the same one.
Given that we are now facing an election, it could be a good time to make a few waves on this subject. They always listen more carefully when they want something!!!

have a look at this site the pertition is there and in several languages

CM,

I know this may be a bit late for a reply but this is just the tip of the proverbial

Is a Postman responsible for what is inside the letters and parcels he delivers?

Is a Store Manager responsible if there is a foreign body in some pre-packed food he sells?

Who is responsible if a pallet, when opened at the RDC, is found to contain contraband?
It has happened at a local RDC

Why does a Coach Driver ask all passengers to disembark and take their luggage through Customs while he drives through Customs?

Because he is responsible for what is in THEIR luggage

Why should a Truck/Coach Driver be held responsible for what he has no control over?
