A bit late but i have used it free for at least 3/4 years rate it very high
I got Zone Alarm Pro and have had for 2 or 3 years, now. It takes some time to get used to all the settings and block this and allow that, but thats what is for. Its very good.
would like ur opinions on the above computer protection system.
WE use it and have up to now no problems with our PC, I can
honestly say the system does work well, along side our other
security setups.

At present I use the free version but will probably upgrade to the Zone Alarm PRO at some point…
I have used ZA since version 1 pro (the bought version) and it was and is very good. I needed to block specific ports for specific programs and it is easy to do that, much easier than a lot of the other software.
I also bought a bit of software called ZoneLog which imported all the logs and tracked them back to where the attempts on the connection had originated. However, since going to a router I’ve not had it installed. I might put it back on the new laptop but that’s only as when that connects up it’ll probably be through a modem not the LAN.
How many computers are you connecting? If you’re using a private network of computers then the free version of ZA will cause problems. You’d need the Pro version for that. Otherwise off you go
Cheers

just the house pc m8,will it be ok for that or will it cause probs
cheers 4 the replies so far.
It’ll be fine for a single PC Kitkat. I think its only if you have it installed on more than one unit that you get problems mate.
The problems ain’t a bug though, like a lot of other free progs and paid for ones, you can only install them on one unit. If you install it one two seperate units, and they talk to each other, you;ll have prob’s.
cheers for that simon, downloaded it now, just trying to get used to all the alert boxes popping up.but i will get there when i sus them out,or should i say when the wife figure’s them out and tell’s me what they are
From what I’ve picked up off different sites ZoneAlarm has quite a few holes in it. There is one known flaw that makes it possible for somebody to actually uninstall Zone Alarm from your computer without your knowledge.
ZoneLabs know about it, but haven’t done anything to fix it! I’m sure they will be looking at it but it has been like this for quite a while.
If anyone is looking for a free firewall I’d go for Sygates’ offering. It’s not perfect but it’s about the best freebee.
Been using ZA for around 2 years and never had any problems, once you get used to it and recognise the legit programs that are causing the pop up alerts you can stop them from appearing. Remember that a very high percentage of the “intrusion alerts” it picks up are from normal network traffic.
Very happy with it, and if you are on broadband ZA (or something similar) is definitely recomended even if it does cause a few probs initialy

Been using Zone Alarm (free & now Pro) for what seems like forever. I don’t have a bad word to say about it.
