looking at the googlearth image I can well see why an inexperienced driver could make a mistake, the only markings appear to be the white arrows on the road and the offside one is quite faint.
You are Carryfast and I claim my £5.
Surely not, a racist confederate soldier with a penchant for road design and obsolete engineering?
I feel sorry for her, we all make the odd balls up now and again, thankfully the circumstances are normally far less serious.
It doesn’t say much for the driver training syllabus for this country though. I think we’ve all seen seen the new drivers, proudly sporting their little green “P” on the back of the car, while dithering about and making ■■■■ ups all over the show - clearly down to lack of confidence and experience, all thanks to the instructors having to prime their pupils to be skilled for the short test, rather than for driving in the real world for the rest of their lives.

I can’t resist to comment that she was trained up to famous British Standards by the British driving school and she passed a test in Britain to gain British license
So this will be so much for comments on national question, can we come back to the relevant stuff? I for that one agree with what Harry Monk says.
Errrr, chaps, I have a feeling Rob may have been taking the ■■■■…well maybe. I can’t say I’ve ever seen him express this sentiment before.
Harry Monk:
Personally I feel sorry for her. She had only passed her driving test three weeks earlier. She made a mistake, but the fact that the signage has since been changed indicates that at the time of the accident it was insufficient. It must have been a terrifying experience for her, both during and after the incident and I have no doubt that it preys on her mind for hours every single day.
+1 harry.we all made mistakes after passing out test.
My examiner said now that i have passed , the learning begins

No it doesn’t. It indicates that they want to prevent situation before it happens again as there are more and more Muppets OTR.
How can you miss 4 signs before that junction. That is complete lack of concentration not inexperience.

I agree that she should have been aware but…mistakes happen
Repeated twice before + sign at the beginning of that stretch of the road = Blindness and lack of concentration not a mistake. Mistake is when instead of 5th gear you put 3rd.
Carryfast had a point when this originally came up - incompetents might not be put off much by the (lack of) signage at the time and I thought this sort of thing could happen again - maybe it already has - no excuse though. Apparently no “no entry signs” were in existence down that slip road (ah, I see the BBC site implies that) though why she thought it was OK to cross an unbroken double white line (which I believe exists there) etc., seeing how she recently passed her test and such things should be high in a recent-passers conscious, is beyond me.
Also, is it just me cos (in the photo on the BBC website) she looks like she’s not entirely alert; a bit dazed perhaps, eyes glazed, in dreamland, looking into the distance, thinking of other things, switched off, whatever. Blatant speculation, maybe she was numbed by the court appearance, but if she carries this apparent “drifting off” lack of concentration into her driving, it’s only a matter of time… We all know people have different levels of intelligence and some geniuses are totally impractical. No matter how much coaching, test-passing and experience some people get, they will never be competent drivers if they don’t “get it”, not that that necessarily applies here. At least no-one was killed and she does have to sit a “test of competence”.

its ok orys, here’s another one for your pipe to smoke… the immingham transport driver was a pole as well.

I agree with Mr Monk, nobody was killed or seriously injured , she has been dealt with by the courts .
I caused a serious accident in my car when younger, luckily nobody was killed or seriously injured and I was dealt
with by the courts in a manner that was suitable to the offence, careless driving, points and a fine , could have
been death by careless driving but it wasnt.
I dont think about it everyday although if a death had been caused maybe I would. I think about the perfectly good
2.8 Capri what had to have extensive bodywork done though .
I am with Mr.H. Monk on this one. An inexperienced driver got it badly wrong. I remember when I was an inexperienced driver and making some pretty stupid mistakes.

not according to the picture in the link provided.
You are quite right, I stand corrected. It still should’ve been obvious that the DC had ended, as has been stated before. The authorities have now made it a bit harder for people to take the wrong road there.

That is acceptable because they handled like a pig on ice
If ice was in the Equation I wouldnt have minded stoving it It was a nice summers day on the way to watch
the moto gp at Donnington although I dont think it was called motogp then. Anyways we never got there
What was in the equation was a knob in the fastest car I have ever had at the time , three friends and bad
influences from “The Dukes Of Hazard”
oops. I actually meant the Capri was like driving a pig on ice, even on a nice summer day, unless you were the Stig they were bloody awful if you overdid them, and I drove a lot of cars in those days as minder to a bent car dealer

Moto GP used to be called simply 250GP, 500GP etc
I knew what you meant after I posted my reply
The GP we would have seen would have been 1993 I have just googled it and it brings a tear to my eye the riders
we missed , Fogarty on the dog ruff cagiva ! Haslam , Rainey and the BSB nutters on wildcard rides !
