You're winding my leg sir

May I be the first to say Jeremy Thorburn is a ■■■■.

Thankyou.

I would agree based solely on the contents of the memo in the OP.But then again, I don’t work for DHL so if he looks in on here,I can’t be sacked

I am employed by them, although I don’t work for them, and I don’t care one way or another about being sacked. It’s a nice easy job but it wouldn’t be the end of the world if I couldn’t do it any more.

Neil…I think you’re well 'ard mate.

shoud you not do this anyway■■? how much do landing legs cost■■?

Unless you regularly go over hump back bridges or drive down roads/in yards with bomb craters its not going to be much of an issue.

Or get on ferries. The top deck of a ferry has been the death of many a landing leg.

or even the back stablizer legs on a silo tank

A.K.A DownHillLogistics.

A certain amount of credit has to be given to the bloke for not mentioning the fact that you’d be charged “£50 for each full turn of the winding handle”, which was the particularly well-informed and accurate version that I was subjected to by one of our lot last Autumn.

We all know this is rubbish, but if we raised this issue with a TM or fellow driver, where would be our evidence/proof. We could hardly say “a bloke on trucknet says it crap” or the said offense “isn’t on the VOSA fine list”. You know what people are like without real proof to the contarary they will never be swayed.

When I first got my licence back in 1878, my 1st job on the 1st day, I had to pick up a trailer and I was winding the legs up for about half an hour, nobody had told me the things had 2 gears

You are wrong, it was only £10 per revolution

You won’t find a regulation saying you don’t have to wind the legs all the way up, but if this was true there has to be legislation saying you must so ask them to prove their side. The fact it “isn’t on the VOSA fine list” is in fact proof because that is what they issue FPN’s for and if it isn’t on that list they cannot issue one.

The clue it is ■■■■■■■■ is also in the amount they claim for the fine. VOSA only issues fixed penalties in four set amounts, £30, £60, £120 and £200, and these stories don’t usually feature one of those amounts. Also none of the FPN’s VOSA can issue is based on X amount per something, as in £10 per turn for example. They are either set amounts for an offence or graduated as in the fine increases depending how much you have exceeded your driving time or how much less than the required rest you took.

Exactly. You cannot find legislation to say it is illegal to take more than 45 minutes break after 4h.30 driving or that it is illegal to sleep for 10 hours

That’s not the DHL I’m employed by and know. Easy going where I am with very few, if any, hoops to jump through. Best job I’ve ever had.

You can find info on people, not very secretive because they know you looked at them, unless you hide your profile which sort of defeats the object.

It can be useful in a stalkers arsenal.

Sorry, I mean it can be a useful tool for those who are boundary challenged.
