Your own warehouse staff

Hi how do you you deal with warehouse staff at your own depot who insist you can achieve a second run out after 1pm to battle through the m25 clockwise or anticlockwise mean while your only paid for 12 hours from 5am. Why don’t the warehouse staff learn cpc as well as drivers. Why is driver constantly in a battle to try to explain wtd and drivers hours rules to those that don’t really care. This seems to be a consistant problem in many work places.

Just tell them it’s not up to them so don’t bother whining at you about it !

Then go do your day

Anything like a certain steel firm in Silvertown, then you won’t stand a chance!

Sales overrule the transport planners, and when the transport planners tried to highlight issues and say it can’t be done, sales would run off to the depot manager and cry like babies, in which he would overrule the transport planners, this [zb]ing up everything and everyone else!

Your not paid for your common sense, your paid to do as required, when required if it’s deemed reasonable by the twerp sat upstairs.

It’s one of the many reasons I told them to poke it!

smiffy trucker that’s eactly what happens where I am, warehouse go and tell tales ie driver refusing to do job because drivers rules are too difficult for them to understand so they say driver refuses job.

Do you ever get to go home early, whilst still being paid 12 hours?
If so…comes around goes around.
As long as you finish on top,in the grand scheme of things.

ovlov jay ? commonrail no consistant 12 hour day only finished early half a dozen times in three years that has only been 30 min early.

Tell em to shove it,then
Unless a cushy Friday can be arranged

You find another job

Drag the first run out so you don’t end up in a position where a second run is a possibility

Toonsy wins the internet. I will usually try and get back for a second as I’m hourly paid and I like the OT rates at our place, not scared of a 13/14/15hr day. However, there are days when I want to finish at my contracted 9hrs so an extra coffee before I leave, cruise set at 50 on the way there, extra half hour or so of poa at the store (back of house always ask "what time do you want leaving on the paperwork drive  " ) Ask if they want pallets taken back (that always loses an extra half hour) 50mph on way back as well as our allotted 50 min break . Back in the yard after 7hrs and we dont have to go out again  Wash, fuel, drink coffee and clock off dead on 9hrs

Go back, load up leave yard, ring up, I’m out of time…

What doesn’t get done today gets dun tomorrow… Unless you work for argo- merchant Belfast then manger slaps you about( another thread)

I worked for Halfords for a while, delivering bikes just before Christmas. Whatever time you got back to the depot, you were asked: “How many hours you got left drive…?”

To be fair, they were very strict on compliance, but if you had an hour or more, then off up the road you went.

The usual reply is cant drive a truck, then its until you can come DONT TELL ME HOW TO DO MY JOB
or OK but it will be a night out as I finish at 5, if its day cab you drive, I will get a receipt for the hotel.

Tried in an indirect way to explain this to someone last night who was chasing around like his arse was on fire going mental because the guy with his trailer hadn’t turned up yet. Pointed out that he didn’t want to be leaving before 1am anyway and he’d be here before then to be told it was Friday so he wanted to be off ASAP. Silly lad hasn’t yet figured out that he’s on annualised hours so even though he gets paid the same every month for rushing around doing 10.5hr runs in 9.5hrs he’ll owe that much time that when the rest of them are sat at home on the weekend he’ll be in either Saturday or Sunday every other week doing an extra day’s work to repay some of what he owes.
