I’m not looking for any sympathy here as I do work long hours already, but I’m after your opinions on this trip:
I am expected to leave Haydock early - drop 1 item at Frimley - drop 1 item at Woolwich - collect 1 item at Stratford (will need small amount of dismantling to make it fit) - drop 1 item at Hemel Hempstead - return to Haydock
Each drop / collection will take approx half an hour not allowing for any other usual delays. I am driving a vehicle under 3.5T
Next day is Haydock to just south of Berwick upon Tweed - 2 collections on my return in an LGV
Following day is Haydock - Cornwall 1 drop in the under 3.5T vehicle
Ist day under domestic regs so max 10 hours driving and 11 hours total drive/work
2nd day under EU regs with the under 3.5 counting as other work
3rd day under domestic regs again
T’was ever thus on vans dude. Technically probably illegal, but the owners know that the chances of getting caught are slim to nothing.
When I had vans I’d do
Middlesbrough to Barcelona in one hit and I’d expect my drivers to do it too. Again, illegal but my drivers went into it with their eyes open and the highly inflated wages eased the pain.
