Any job where I have to bring in my own clientele - is a job where I don’t have a boss, and I decide when I want to work.
I’ve considered being a cabbie for “Airports ONLY” on an on-call basis, £50 per round trip pre-booked, £100 round trip “last minute booked”, specializing in overnight and weekend call-outs.
I don’t have my own clientele though, and of course those calling me on the spur of the moment (“no one else was available”) do NOT want to be “ripped off” paying my £100 charge, but were quite happy to pay the £50.
I was trying to mop up some desperate airport goers - not bloody undercut regular cabbies FFS…
I ditched the idea, needless to say.
(If anyone wants to approach me with a client book that’ll keep me busy for 10 hours a night for a nominal charge to me being Self-employed, then msg me!

Think I’ll give it a miss.
I drive past their yard (and that is the most polite word I can use to describe it) most evenings and it just screams ‘cowboy’ outfit. They have about 4-5 unit and trailers all driven by our european brethren. It’s not the most alluring job advert in the world is it.
