You want it backing in where?

Newbie:
Oh my God, after reading this little lot and looking at these pics I now know i’m in the wrong job. I did about as much reversing as I had to, to get me through my test and in 2 and a half years I still havn’t improved any. I know how to do it in my head but behind the wheel it all goes to pot Oh yes and you old hands are always there to watch too. People say it will come to you just like that ! but i think it missed me out.

dont worry about it :laughing: :laughing: :laughing: :laughing: :laughing: :laughing: its not that bad

some experianced drivers will say it takes me 2 shunts to get in then you sit and watch them taking 8 or 9 even with 20 years experiance sometimes you hit it in 1 shunt sometimes you line it up a bit wrong and it will take forever and you feel a bit of a fool. :blush: :blush: :blush:

Not artic , but i once had a job delivering to schools in a 7 and half ton. I had been told it was tight :open_mouth: . It was in a narrow road and to get in you had to drive forwards into the entrance opposite. Line it up and reverse back. Then before giong into the entrance fold the mirrors back and reverse blind about three lorry lengths between bickwalls; higher than the lorry; into the playground. Then you could get out and deliver. And no there wasn’t room to turn round in the playground.

I had the misfortune to be the one who was to make a last drop at a customer in ITALY, atthis time they where situated in the middle of a village.I drove into the village and thought no way hosa but the guy said you can get in and when you have unloaded justturn around in the yard ,
i managed to get in after some shuntting and ws unloaded now came the
moment of truth could i get out in one go, YES with the help of the fork lift
which picked the back end up and enabled me to position the lorry better to get out i was free, The guy who unloaded me said this is what they had been doing since the longer trailers came into use,but after complaints from the public about the increased traffic and all that goes with it they had a new yard which takes over the following week, THANK HEAVENS;
