Evening gents,
Iv stumbled upon this “you ship” website, has anyone had any experience of it?
There is a programme on sky about uship in america. U bid against a load that someone wants moving and the lowest bid wins.
Iv seen it, just wondering if anyone had used the uk site??
I can only imagin that to get work you have to do it for peanuts■■?
In wich case I’d let the monkeys carry on.
I have used it to get a load that gets me home for peanut crumbs.
Hope this helps
Same as anyvan and shiply mostly Jo blogs wants a sofa moving from lands end to johnogroats for 20 quid .
The sites are best uses for co loading or building a run up but the run still has to pay I do know someone who got in early with this And makes a very good living from it but some jobs are frighteningly prices especially the removals side
What you also have to remember is that there are no licence / insurance checks. So you are being bid down by, potentially, owners of barely roadworthy vehicles without tachographs who run out of a back yard somewhere.
As the previous poster has said, Anyvan, Shiply and DeliveryQuoteCompare are a few of the load boards that have recently popped up.
They charge ‘deposits’ that you never see because they are used to cover fees.
You can’t make a viable business from it. But if you are stuck miles from home and want to get back at break even rate, it’s worth a look.
i like the idea on the american version where you turn up with the load and once tipped the bloke just hands you a wegde of notes, no invoicing and waiting 30/60 days for payment, i could get used to that
I used u ship last year when I bought a moterbike of flee bay
The moterbike was in Cornwall n I live in swindon I want on there n got quotes ranging from 150 to 40 quid so I took a punt n went for the 40 quid one all went well and the bike was dropped if at my home undamaged all be it by a steptoe lookin bloke in a discovery pullin a hudge trl loaded up to the hillt with mybike an old Austin 7 a sofa and a fridge freezer the bloke quoted so cheap as the collection of the m bike was 2 miles from his house and had to come rightl past swinedon to get to where car had to be dropped in Kent
The Beauty with it is if he cudnt tie up dropping my m bike with other loads he Wudnt of bid so cheap It’s all about tying the right jobs up together bidding for them and gettin them
Problem is a lot of the operators that quote on that type of site are not properly insured and undercut genuine couriers on that basis, plus if something goes wrong no chance of claiming for your loss
Anyvan and Shipley do ask you to upload your company details. Including insurance.
I’ve been on anyvan for a good bit but have only won done 2 jobs as I have other work that means i don’t use it as my aim source of income
One Customer said he was worried i was reliable because I didn’t have and feed back for being on there for so long so didn’t use me to send his speakers 4 miles from home despite being happy with the price quoted.
Another potential customer went for a company based in London. With a 20 quid cheeper quote.
Item must arrive in pristine condition.
I looked at the company on question the first line was we have a national network. Ie if they couldn’t do it them selves they would put it on a trade exchange. And get it done for even less than they were charging. I hope it arrived ok.
With some of the house move prices quoted you have to wonder if these people are actually insured declaring what there doing
I have picked up loads from UShip, Shiply and Delivery Quote Compare. You do see some very low quotes and I wouldn’t depend on it for work, but for making a round trip pay a bit more it can work out very well indeed. It can also lead on to more work, some regular, and of course once the customer has your direct details there is no need to lose out on the deposit/fees mentioned above.

Iv not chance to do much about it, but as u say the right job will bump a round trip up nicely !!
From not knowing anything about it to a tv show !! WOW
and drivers moan about Stobarts !!! Dear god
If you sift through the cack on that site, There looks to be some good contacts to be made.
Some say that people are doing some serious undercutting on that site, But that was all tv hype for the ratings. The reality is people are pricing the jobs at a lot more than many owner drivers are running at. £3.00 per mile looks to be the norm on there.
