I was going to Weswood West Calder last week, turned left at lights came right on to a 14. 6 (I think) arched bridge.
Now as far as I know there were no warning signs, but I could well have missed them , but who knows…(any locals on here?)
Faced with 2 choices, let the suspension down on my 14 6 trailer, crawl up to it head and shoulders out of window carefully watching, …OR try and back up to lights despite traffic build up.
Why couldn’t you just drive your 14ft 6in trailer under the 14ft 6in clearance bridge normally?

I did. but carefully.
I just was not expecting it as I turned around the corner so it came up.as a surprise…that was part of my point.
The photo is quite deceptive, when you approach it, as it looks more on a.steeper angle than it does on the photo.
Optical illusion? my eyesight? …Who knows ? .Who.cares?
I was taking no chances, as I had no intention of catching either side of the trailer length on that lesser clearance if I went under on the wrong angle…Hope that clarifys my actions for you.
Too careful? Possibly, but I’ll take that.
You decide Conor…not fussed tbh.
I’ll just teararse right through with my eyes shut next time so as not to annoy you Conor me old mate.
Btw…not like you to be writing patronising posts.

I think the problem is that Conor being perfect fails to allow for the fact that the lesser mortals in this world tend to make mistakes. One, the bridge height displayed may be incorrect and two, dare I say it the measurement of the trailer could also be inaccurate. This being the case you in your wisdom took the common sense approach and took it through carefully.

There are no warnings on the main road- either direction-as the bridge would appear to be full height between the markings, only being lower under the sides. Pretty poor design.
Bloody fool that Brunel fella! Fancy designing a bridge too low for an artic. No foresight.
Sorry…

Doh. My fault,I could have worded it much better. Should have made it clear I was talking about the markings, not the bridge.
