You know when you're getting old

You know when you’re getting old when you start enjoying the music your old dad liked!
After listening to Johnnie Walker interview Tony Bennett the other week I thought “That’s not bad!” I might download a bit of that.So I did.
Then I thought “Ang’ on a mo”,me dad used to like him.Sad :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

And why is it that Radio2 now plays all the stuff I liked when I was a lad(?) but back then you’d only hear it on Radio1?
In 20 years time they’ll be playing Eminem on ‘Wake up to Wogan’ (Cos’ he’ll still be there, bless him)

so very true :unamused:   :sunglasses:

simon

PMSL…

I feel exactly the same… R1 is just naff boom-boom whining… (now THAT sounds like my Dad… :open_mouth: )
Steve Wright sounds just like he did 15yrs ago on R1… It’s like a time warp… Good ol’ 80’s music…

I couldn’t stand Wogan before, but after a few late night runs, trying to find a nice voice to listen to, I found that woman who’s on before Wogan… (I still haven’t caught her name… ) and I kinda forgot to change over after her, and ended up listening to our irish charmer… It’s taken a while, but he is growing on me… :open_mouth:
And I used to love Moyles’, but now I can’t stand him… atleast not that early in the morning… :unamused:

I swear as soon as I reached 30, I ‘turned’ old…
Can’t listen to ‘top 40 bands’ anymore (metal to classical is OK, but not 'produced bands)…
I laugh at teenagers hair doo’s… (I used to have a ‘Cure’ back-combed sticky up affair… :open_mouth:  )
and now I have, albiet only a few, GREY HAIRS… :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Christ, it’s all down hill from here…

Chrisie… :sunglasses:

I found that woman who’s on before Wogan…

You mean Sarah Kennedy,Chrisie.

I personally can’t stand the woman. She’s far too hoity toity for me,and I get sick of hearing her go on about her cats. For God’s sake woman,I hate them as I’m allergic to the ■■■■ things,so talk about something else… Actually,I will take my hat off to her in one sense, she does a 1.5 hour day,for a lot of pay,so she’s not that daft.

Ken.

It might be age, on the other hand it might just be developing taste in music! Tony Bennet is a great singer, stranger in paradise is my fave by him! Ive never been caught in all the “age” ■■■■■■■■, I loved that stuff as a kid, I still like the clash as well!

She is as daft as a brush, Quinny… thats why I think she is good at that time of the morning … plus she was a bit of a looker in her younger days!!
I like her

How true.

My dad has always listened to Radio 2 and back in the '80’s and I always told him it was an old codgers radio station.

Now I listen to it because radio 1 is absolutely rubbish.

So a word of advice: Listen to your parents - they are always right!

Yep- sad but true.
Somehow though, Radio 2 doesn’t seem like it used to in my Dad’s day.
Oasis can be heard on it now - where’s Jim Reeves■■? Where’s Wogan’s Winner■■? Where’s recipe of the day■■?
Some things do change… but lets have a bit of Jim Reeves for us mid thirty -year old codgers eh?

When you were a teenager, I bet you thought Jim Reeves wasn’t trendy. Thats how it was back then. Now it’s cool to listen to the oldies - I could listen to Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole etc all day long (and I’m only a 32 year old codger! :open_mouth: )

And here am I with a playlist encompasing AC/DC and Jive Bunny…
Radio 2! Greatest station in the world!

My latest mp3 cd for the car has the following folders and artists…
