A month ago i contacted the DVLA because i hadn’t had the paperwork to renew my HGV/PSV, the man said that because they revoked for a year because of an eye operation, my renewal dates had been put back a year, ie 56 and 61 years old. I then had the renewal for the photo licence, i sent it away and got the new one back today. I checked it and found that my entitlements now don’t run out till 2018, no medical taken or anything, i was also amused to find i now have a motor cycle licence!!!.
I rang the DVLA and the nice lady told me “Thats because it’s one of the new licences”, but my old one hasn’t run out yet and i haven’t had my medical i said, “don’t worry it’s right, they have extended your entitlement for another 5 years because it’s one of the new licences”.
It didn’t matter how much i argued, she wasn’t having any of it, has this happened to anybody else?, this might explain the standard of HGV driving at the moment, they will start giving licences away on cornflake boxes soon!!!
Regarding the motorcycle licence. I had the same with mine when I got mine back after passing my class 1 test, it says you have the entitlement (category A is it?) on the front of the card where the list of entitlements is, but you actually only have the provisional entitlement. I can’t for the life of me remember why, let me try and pull my old thread…
I would write to them and get it confirmed in writing. They are not unknown for making rules up as they go along and changing them to suit
On the back of the photocard, does Category ‘A’ have a restriction code ‘79tri’ next to it?
This thread may be of some use;
Time to get that Harley Davidson you’ve always wanted
When I got my driving licence when I first passed it had the motorcycle one too but as tarrman says it was a provisional and the DVLA took it off when I queried it.
Yes guys, just looked at the motorcycle bit and you are right, thanks, the other bits are still a worry though…
Wow, for once I was of some use
When I did my class 2, my licence came back with my PSV missing. Good job I’d taken colour photocopies of it, thankfully they haven’t tried to pinch my bike licence, my other half loves a blast on the CBR.
