Poundland sold for £1 with shops set to close - BBC News
Hmm, how did that pan out for BHS?
If pound shops are struggling, what will fill out empty units in town centres going forward?
One-stop Turkish barbers / vape shop mega-stores.
Not more Turkish barbers , my old one man band hairdresser of 40 yrs packed up due to low footfall , he’s now bern replaced by about 5/6 Turkish barbers , no idea how there making it pay , always empty , sat on chairs outside
I guess there doing something like all the eu food shops that appeared then were shut down for money laundering, human trafficking ( I kid you not ) & something else , you’d never think human trafficking would go on in a small town in Lincolnshire .
You had a swingers club for a while I think, I have the impression all sorts goes on in Grantham.

But ,“the lady is not for turning”.
Which reminds me of a joke about a newly married couple…
But I reckon many can just make up a better one themselves.
Poundland, at one point was owned by Steinhoff (later Pepco, also Steinhoff), who also owned Harveys the furniture store (and a lot of other stuff related to furniture).
This all changed when a rather large ‘accounting irregularity’ was discovered in 2017 and things started getting sold off.
Harveys itself was also sold off (to Blue Group, which relates to Steinhoff) and subsequently disappeared shortly after one of the lockdowns ended.
Steinhoff was absolutely massive in South Africa and thousands of jobs were lost due to the ‘irregularities’ and no doubt some lives too, not least of which was the former CEO Markus Jooste in an apparent suicide.
