I haven’t been in there for over a year, they used to have a lot of DAF CFs but lately I’ve only seen their MANs about so they may have changed all the vehicles I’m not sure, the MANs will definitely be digital tachograph, if they still have the DAFs they’re analogue.

It’s an easy enough job, usually a straight run and trailer swap at another depot, if you’re a spare driver it can be boring stuck in the canteen all-night but if you get a run it’s OK.

They will give you a map to the location if you ask for one, at the end of the shift you’ll be expected to wash and fuel the vehicle, with so many drivers there’s bound to be the odd cretin but most of the people are OK and will help if needed.

There’s usually at least one spare driver so be on time or you could lose your run

Thanks Tachers old boy

Spot on low down there.

Looking forward to a fun filled Friday night already

By the way Tachers, like the motto:

‘Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt’

Old Dennis Thatcher used to use it

He was also a rugby ref in the London area. He once threatened to send a player and his captain off if the players behaviour didn’t improve. The captain asked him in the bar afterwards what he would have been dismissed for. Dennis replied oh I’d have thought of something!

Thanks Keith

I’ll keep em peeled

So thanks for your responses Tachers and Keith.

Did Norwich trunk Friday night, got lost trying to find Norwich depot, phoned office and realised they had given me the map for the other place in Norwich - DHL!

Problem with number plate, the new Yodel trailers number plate holder is too narrow, had to have fitter cut it down!

Did Biggleswade yesterday, aside from the manic shunters pretty much straight forward. The 11 plate MAN’S are ok, I like em. Couldn’t quite get the seat to a comfortable position but I am sure I will. Digi tachs are Siemens.

I have not done too much driving of late so my reversing is a bit rusty, the Norwich depot is tight with vans blocking access. The new Yodel trailer are shaped at the back below the rear wheels, the other driver in at Norwich advised to be ■■■■ on between the bay metal bars otherwise might catch the moulding.

Main issue with them is finding unfamiliar places otherwise, drive, swap trailer, return.

Have the days of just turning up and getting on with it finished ? Honestly why is it important to know what type of this or what type of that?

Just turn up get the keys and sort it out yourself! You sound like your panicking !!

Just wanted to prepare, not having done much driving recently.

Thanks for your input
