I just have some unrelated questions that i can’t seem to get a straight reply from any of the drivers i ask. Thanks in advance for any replies.
if you are sat in a queue and you set your taco to brake but then move forward 1 lorry space every 5-10 mins then put it straight back on brake it will keep the brake going (I think as it will only count the driving if its more than 30s or something like that), is this OK/legal to do this to get your 45 min brake? as in reality your not getting one hole brake there is gaps were you move for 5s or so? (hope that makes sense)
for you guys that know skelly trailers, is there and if so what would be the consequences if you don’t slide your skell to the 20ft position and left it on the 40ft position? (have never done so just wondered why its done)
the other day i got back to my yard and parked on 4H30m driving just hit that when i switched off, but i did a print out today and from what i count its saying i did 4h31m am i missing something? i guess i will see in i get a nice letter at the end of next week
what do you do if you open a container door and something is going to fall out if you open it (like at a RDC or something) and there is no one to help you? ( i did ask other drivers and like a true driver they said just let the F**king thing fall on the floor and get out of the way of it sharpish(not the reply i was looking for))
thanks again, I am sure i had more but i think that will do for now

you are not taking a interrupted break so, it’s deffinetly not legal

(have never done so just wondered why its done) you would probably end up with a box in the middle of your trailer, good luck tipping it!

No you can’t because as soon as you move it swaps to driving

No you won’t get a letter it just rounded to next minute

As your drivers said let it fall that’s what insurance is for don’t be a hero

1 depends entirely on what sort of tachograph you have fitted. The newer style ones will record a LEGAL break in the circumstances you describe. The older ones will not record a legal break.
2 can’t help
3 yes it does that, annoying isn’t it. Make sure you are stopped by 4:29 in future and this can’t happen.
4 let it fall! If it hits you, that is your problem. If it hits the deck it’s someone else’s problem!
You can actually move a wagon whilst on break, as long as you go slow and not far and put it straight back on bed… (depends on the wagon, I think scanias and renaults do this)

It doesn’t matter about the brand of truck. Only the type of tachograph fitted

I’ve only used one type of tacho so I can’t confirm that
