Yet another bridge strike

Have just found this on the local papers website. The bridge is very well signposted so there should be no excuses.

Maybe the mods should have a Bridge strike sticky for the amount of times it happens then everyone can post excuses as to why it happened,

Same goes for rearending convoy shunts, , I passed over the motorway by Sandbach the other day and there were 2 Morrisons wagons right up one another’s ■■■,
They were that close I thought the 2nd truck was on a fixed towbar :open_mouth:

had quite a few trailers flat packed on that bridge when i was at swift/salvesen, including a demonstrator driver from DAF.

In the last 12 months that bridge has been re- signed from 14ft 6in to 14ft 0in I used to go under it at 14ft 2in but since they are now round (mandatory) signs at 14ft I won’t go that way even though the trailer would still go under.
There are ample warning signs on that road at Crick J18 and the other way from Northampton, that trailer in the pictures looks well over 15ft :unamused:

cheaper to make an existing trailer more aerodynamic than buying a brand new teardrop

Makes opening the back doors more difficult though !

Can’t they put up a barrier with chains hanging down at the appropriate height before the bridge like they have at McDonalds drive thru? I can’t understand why this is so difficult to do■■?

side tip only. open the curtains and put your feet up. pump trucks are for people who eat vegetables

Where are these dopey drivers coming from.It is a scary thought that a normal human being driving a vehicle with a trailer that is considerably higher than most other vehicles strikes a bridge.
If he is capable of that it makes you wonder what his driving is like when he is not stopped by a bridge! PATHETIC.

I got stuck in the traffic chaos after this 1 today.
