Sometimes you need to drop the fuel card off in store before fueling up.For someone who is a university researcher, has had a licence for five minutes and appears to exclusively do work that is out and back to base in a day, you have a lot of knowledge of how fuelling up at a service station works.
Know what I mean?
You missed the thread where he was moaning about being questioned about going to a fuel station miles off route

He also missed the that I make a point of returning a vehicle with a full tank of fuel - as I hate getting there to it being empty. So nearly every shift I fill up. I say nearly every because on one of my jobs so far they had a pump at depot. And occasionally I’ll be told not to, or be given no means of payment.
So far I’ve had fuel cards, credit cards and cash as means of payments. But when you fill up nearly every shift you soon realise that some places like the cards before they let you pump the diesel. You also learn to check which side the fuel tank is on first thing.

No cigar. You’re yet another of the wind-up brigade that has become a pox on this forum over the past few months.
And on the offchance that you’re not, then you are Exhibit A of why absolutely anyone can drive a lorry.
