Appologies for my co-driver’s appalling foto skills.

Careful, Carryfast will be along to tell you that you cant do that, but need a double drive 3 ×2 a frame to do that…
Very nice though. Being mobile homes, getting them I or out of their destination must have been fun

Fabulous. I think we snuck our trailers up to 50’. Whether it was deemed legal or not, if it was detachable it didn’t count according to our boss, so extending drawbars and sharp pointed trailers to get the tow ball closer to the cab were normal.

I’m in the cabin game. That is a normal load for us.
We often move a 40 ft container on a 6 wheeler ,I did used to take 40 ft flagpoles on my sprinter ,no doubt CF will want to argue it

I usually did 2 x 28’s or 2x29’s but the tk behind had broken down in leatherhead so i had to go and complete the job in 1 go. You could get away with a 45’ trailer as long as you carried 45’ mobile homes, which i did, occasionally. The back one’s wheels are only just on ,delivery was on the south coast.
Never could better the welsh geezer who loaded 2 x 33’s .

I can remember Sandy Melville of Kirriemuir sending me to Lunan Bay Shotblasters for roof trusses for
Bonar Low in Forfar. This involved driving past the police headquarters in Forfar.
I got to the shotblasters to find the trusses were 55 feet long. I had a 40 foot trailer. I phoned Sandy
and was advised “Tie an old yellow jacket on the back and take it easy”.
Did four of them that day!!

Nah, nothing wrong with a close coupled 2+1
19ft of tail swing here
33 footer on an 8.5t TK somewhere in france. be about 1975 . max length we put on as a single was 36’ with the A frame out the back. all the other rigids pulled trailers and even they were only in the 8.5t gvw class . last rigid we bought for caravan work was a new 1979 Ford D1114 , 6 speed box + 2 speed axle , specced for drawbar work to the south of france - it inherited the body off the old TK , photo is of it on its way to Frejus . and the artics went from 16 tonne Ford D600 ,though D800’s , D2014 , Volvo F86 , and ended with Fiat 170/26 in 1981.
42 x 13, lovely bit of tailswing with rear steer tag down. Keeps you on your game hauling these about, especially on single carriageways
