Pretty much like any other large RCC. Decent motors - Volvos, majority LNG, some hired Mercs. Double deck trailers to stores (2 hour+tip/reload), sometimes 2nd run if first one’s ‘local’ or plants on fridges (up to 3-4 drops). Otherwise trunking to other DCs, some backhaul/collections. Possibly some skelly work. Shifts anywhere from 8 to 13+ hours. All core units have Microlise and majority have external cameras for London.

I was in Swindon this morning with a trunk load, drop and swop and headed back north.
Swindon covers stores anywhere from London SE & SW England, the midlands, east Anglia, and up around Birmingham. Swindon drivers will take Trunk loads (know as cycle loads) to any of the depots at Redhouse Doncaster, Worksop, Branston (Burton on Trent) or up to Heywood for trunking up to Scotland.
The loaders at warehouse generally strap up the load and buckle up the inner curtains on the deckers, you check the load is secure and buckle up the outer curtains the seal the trailer with TIR cords
Loads for stores on Double deck curtainsiders are usually 1-2 drops, with waste recycling and returns back to depot, backhauls are also done on the back of stores including Harris brush at Stoke Prior (Driotwich), Rothleys (Wolverhampton), XPO Euroterminal Manchester and a couple of others.
Swindon deals with the majority of plant deliveries using fridge trailers, and much like cages you’ll be juggling Danish plant trolley around taking full ones off and empties back on.
All store deliveries have booking times but depending on the site they’ll tip you earlier if possible, most of the yard men/forklift drivers know what the crack is and once you get into the swing the jobs easy, if your doing curtainsider deliveries to stores, you drive into the yard, open the curtains and get back in the cab and stay there until they want you to pull the curtains.

Pay: iirc the Swindon drivers are on around £35.5K+ with £2/hr extra for Start times before 6am, 6th shifts paid at at £195 flat rate, bank holidays worked accrue either a day in lieu or a £130 payment, good boy days are accrued at various points annually, there`s also a staff discount of 20% at B&Q stores.
