WTF is wrong with these forums?

can anyone offer an explanation and a solution…

When ever I go to write a picture blog or really long post the scroll bar seems to start suffering with parkinsons! For some reason, no matter what you do with it, it keeps on returning to some sort of datum point it has set itself, so if you type below it, with each letter that is typed, it scrolls down to that letter but then instantly back to the datum point…and if you type fast like me, the screen just basically shakes between where you’re writing and where the scroll wants to position itself.

The net result of this is me getting ■■■■■■ off with the site, having to hold the scroll down after every few words to see if I’ve made any mistakes, and my recent blog having to be abandoned!

Mods…WTF is going on■■?

■■■

Yep, it seems to be some type of glitch. but it only happens occasionally and it’s beyond the control of anyone running the site, it’s a “higher-up” problem.

i had a smiler prob on IE8 and then change to firefox and not happened sine

Seemples.

Other browsers are available :stuck_out_tongue:

I had exactly the same problem with IE8, so I now use Apple Safari for posting on the TNUK site.

:bulb: As Del said, Firefox also works for the TNUK site.

So now you have a choice.

I get no such probs using IE7

Its a bug with the browser so I am told,
for those using IE8 a temp fix is to view T/net in compatability mode

to view T/net in compatability mode

To do this open Trucknet in IE8, open the Tools Menu and select Compatibility View Settings,
The address for Trucknet should be showing in the box below Add This Website.
Click on the Add button to the right, click on the close button.

Job done, simples

Back in the days when I used IE8 for viewing this site, I tried that suggestion to no avail. :frowning:
In my case, it reverted to the ‘old view’ when I next opened the browser.
I lost several posts just before hitting the ‘submit’ button, because the compatibility mode seemed to switch on and off at will.

BTW Col, that’s exactly what I tried to explain to you at the last TNUK do.

Now I have both Apple Safari and Firefox, this forum works just fine in both, so happy days!!

Ahh you expect me to remember that. :open_mouth: I was inebreai, ineber…pished!

By the way your brekkie this year is on me. I haven’t forgotten that.
I blame Rikki for emptying my wallet though.

I remember that you asked for screenshots of the problem, so you possibly hadn’t had as many sherbets as you thought.
A screenshot would have been useless, because the problem was that the cursor jumped up and down within the writing window and wouldn’t have shown up in a screenshot as it was… hmmm… err… ‘off-screen’ at the time. :frowning:

Have no fear Col, that was on me.

BTW, I won’t be at the party in any case.

best you remortgage the house if youre paying for daves breakfast (tip of the day, ring the place you are eating and confirm there are no pies on the breakfast menu! it will save you a fortune)

:open_mouth: Errr… I resemble that remark. :grimacing:

:bulb: My tip of the day:
In order to have a light breakfast, just divide the normal amount onto two plates so that neither of them is heavy.

does that count for bacon butties at the nearest butty van as well dave? put them in 2 bags instead of one?

Oh yes Lee, it’s all a question of balance.

When I do a long post I always type it in word first - then cut and paste. This catches the typos and speiling errers and solves the problem.
