The maximum 60 hours working time is calculated for the fixed week (00:00 Monday to 24:00 Sunday), so when you’ve done 60 hours working time you’re supposed to stop working for the rest of the fixed week, though as you probably know no government agency actually enforces the WTD so…
Bear in mind though that working time is driving and other work it does not include breaks or POA.
i thought that was what it was i dont usually get near 60 hours hence the memory lapse thxs

IF someone decided to enforce it,which agency is actually responsible for it

The DVSA are charged with enforcing the RT(WT)R 2005, but I think they believe it should have been incorporated into the drivers hours regulations rather than having two lots of regulations.
One set of regs is plenty although i think the current Tacho regs are fine but i think the six hour rule should stay but get rid of the rest of the wtd

Me too
Simply adding the 6 hour rule to the current tacho regs would solve the only remaining break issue
Better still would be a revamp of the lot and come up with a simpler set of regs for the UK post brexit

Peoples view on this will vary because there are plenty of people who benefit from the average 48 hour week, I’d probably change the six hour rule to a 4 hour rule but then again other people will have different ideas.
I do agree though that the breaks should have been incorporated into the drivers hours and tachograph regulations, but even then we have to remember that the RT(WT) apply to the whole travelling crew not just drivers, so even incorporating any part of the WTD into the drivers hours regulations could have complications.
