I have had a look at the WTD and how it applies to me, as my driving in my current job is <3.5t and is not in scope of drivers regs as it is mainly car based.
I have dug this up:
Definition of an occasional mobile worker under the 2005 Regulations
A mobile worker would be exempt from the 2005 Regulations if:
He works 10 days or less within scope of the European drivers’ hours rules in a reference period that is shorter than 26 weeks; or He works 15 days or less within scope of the European drivers’ hours rules in a reference period that is 26 weeks or longer.
So am I right in saying I can work up to and including 15 days every six months, alongside my current job ? Basically two days a month…
I was thinking of keeping a diary of my normal work and LGV work, which I understand I have to keep for two years ?
chizz:
I’m a little confused, so the limiting factor is really the 45 hrs weekly rest period ?
Presumably between my normal job (other work) and end of my driving period…
Weekly rest periods are going to be your biggest restriction
If you work mon to fri in a non EU regs job then that is considered as other work for the EU/TACHO regs so cannot be rest which generally leaves one day every other weekend for EU regs driving
