I just wanted to clarify something as I was asking a colleague about it and they seem unsure also. Is the following ok without a break:
-insert card 0830
-drive 4 hours
-other work 1 hour
-1330 finish work and remove card
Thanks gurus!

Yes, no break is required since you don’t work for over six hours.

This is what I have said. But my colleague seems to think you need to have a 15 mins any time before the 6hrs wtd. I understand this to be true if you are working that long or a further amount of time. But in the instance above its only 5 hours worked and end of the day!
You need to start a break before exceeding six hours working and you need breaks totalling 30 min if working more than six but less than nine hours.
Neither criteria is met in the situation you describe so no break is required.
What time did you clock in? As you can’t put your card in and clock in at the same time?
If you started at 08.00 as Glen said then no break is required and less than 6 hour day want to swop lol
Cheers for the replies fellas. Yeah that’s what I thought then.
It’s not usually a 5 hour day! Just a one off…
Glen is correct MD.
