Hi, sorry I don’t see any thread where you can ask general driver hours questions. I have a question regarding wtd breaks.
I start work at 0400 and finish well before 1300 so it’s less than 9 hours. That means imI’m entitled to 2 X 15 min breaks. Can I take the first 15 min at 0530 and the next one like at 0800. Or do I have to take the second one between my 6 and 9 hour period. Please could someone clarify. The guy who trained me takes 15 mins at 0800 then 30 mins at 1000, I think he is taking 15 extra mins as a break.
You can take them anytime as long as you dont go more than 6 hours without the 15min break.

6hours work 30 minutes WTD break can be taken anytime during that time, in 1 30 mins, oe 2x15mins

I’ll be doing this purely to also reset his driving time. If your paid breaks why wouldn’t you?
Don’t forget you also fall under Driving Time breaks too, which can only be broken into a 15 and then a 30, within 4.5 hours of driving. which as you have said, this sounds like what he is doing.
Whats the point in taking your 15 at 0800 and another 15 at 1000, when you only have say an hours driving left, then forced to take another 30?

Only 15mins is needed for 6 hours.
Driving is fine. I only do about 3 hours 15 mins drive throughout the shift. I was asking regarding the wtd. I know you need 15 mins before the 6 hour mark. Then after that you need to take another 15 if you work over 6 hours and under 9 hours. What I was asking is can I take both of the 15 mins in the first 6 hours? Anyway I’m taking a 15 and a 30 minute break as I finished early. I have time. Thanks for the help.
