One of the petrol retailers, I forget which one, used to have an audible warning on their diesel pumps an excellent idea.
We could have used something like that at my place a couple of weeks ago when a member of club plant pot filled a diesel tank with ad blu.

the mixed fuel they take out you get to keepas my mate found out when he put £40 worth of petrol into his 1.9tdi a3. he filled the rest up with diesel but the sensor killed the engine before any damage was done. the container currently sits in his back garden no good to man nor beast
When my son did the same trick on wife’s car (luckily he didn’t try starting it), we towed it back home & drained it ourselves (in the days before recovery company’s would even touch you) and phoned the local council about disposal, they just gave us the address of the local tip that could handle that sort of ‘waste’ - no charge in our case.
Incidentally there is probably still a Ford Focus being driven around somewhere with a small hole in the plastic fuel tank sealed up with araldite…
