Would you rather have?

Maybe going from a Super Space cab to a FM or something similar would take the pee, but what is the size difference between a Space cab and Super Space cab. I’m sure there is enough space for most drivers kit.

the headroom is one key issue between the two.

if you have driven the Superspace for a long time, then move to a space cab, i found that i kept hitting my head on the roof.

also, the SSC has got a fitted fridge as standard, the spacecab does not, this means either spending money on fitting a fridge or using a 24v cooler box (which again takes up more valuable space)

the interior cupboard space is not as big in the space cab.

it’s just my personal opinion, i would rather have an older superspace than a brand new space cab

Agreed, my thoughts too.

Steve-o:
Can you not stand up in a space cab?

CF Space cab you can. XF Space cab you probably could stood in the passenger foot-well IIRC

I’m allergic to brand new trucks and have been knocking them back as long as I’ve been driving (which, for anyone who was wondering, is why I haven’t got one of the new Stralises at our place. I’ll have one in a year when my old dear hits the end our her lease, and someone else has put the first scratches on 'em  )…Therefore I’d take older and smaller over newer and bigger, never mind the other way around!

(I carried on doing 5 nights out a week in a P-Cab to avoid driving any one of 3 new Renaults, FFS. If that ain’t meaning what you say, I don’t know what is. )

in all fairness it will be a 105 and it has a lower hump in the middle so that gives you a couple of extra inches in height but still not ssc height

i did that from a ssc to a low cab fm 12 and it was awful.

i would love to go back to my p-reg ssc as seen below.

i had daf xf105 sc last nite and i stood up fine at 5ft 10 the floor is near flat but i would sooner take pay rise and older motor or just something perm.

were you stood on the engine tunnel or the footwell floor?

at 5’10", i find that i still touch the roof in a 105 SC, even with standing with my head in the sunroof hole

on the engine tunnel i might have been slightly crouched unless it was ssc it didn’t have the twin bunks in?

ive got 95sc at mo and im 5 10 and can just about stand up on engine tunnel n head touches sunroof .i stay out five nights a week and got plenty of gear and still got plenty of storage space left.had 105 ssc on demo last year and liked it but, but fail to see hw if your just doing uk work the sc is not good enuff ,having the biggest doesnt mean its the best in my opinion some people are besoted with size i guess there tryin to compensate for somthing.

My ssc is probably due to be replaced early next year.It would be hard to go back to a spacecab. You tend to expand to fit the space available
I would prefer to keep it and have a pay rise. Also,it’s got an analogue tacho and a proper gearbox

I hope you get an auto then :smiling_imp:

I once had the option of getting a “new” old truck, a few years ago, it was in the yard waiting for me, it was a W reg Iveco Eurostar, but not the one with the window at the top, the mid cabbed one, I refused it and waited until an Alto cabbed Eurostar came, and when it did it was an S reg, still wouldnt have swapped it though, space is more important to me.

I drove P140 for about 6 months, then got a space cab when they got rid of them all…big difference!

p140 was a 400bhp and used to be bill cavens. good truck i took it to scotland once.

Dont know who had it before me, but it was like brand new inside. Didnt pull too well as I remember, especially with the paper out of Tilbury…could just about do Longy’s yard from Tilbury Docks in 4 1/2 on a saturday morning…but a great drive and a credit to your mate

its what you get paid not whether you bang your head or not! anyway…most of the people that drive these big cabs are midgets!!!
