would you pay

coffeeholic has got it. it is little different than the dcpc.

It is very different. One is an employer charging you to work for THEM and only them. The other is paying a small amount to have a ‘qualification’ that enables you to work in your chosen industry, something that workers in many industries have to do

You mean a Tax then Coffee!
The Dcpc is not a trade qualification like what is required to be a Plumber or Electrician or is it! :grimacing: Oh hang on! I just paid £19.00 for my Digicard renewal. Isn’t that a qualification aswell! I’m starting to think I’m over qualified!

It is the same, without either you don’t work. :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Well, you tried a new way to rabble rabble rabble and rally support. :unamused: Best take this one back to the “committee” for discussion. If you can’t see them, just keep heading to the left and you’ll find them eventually

If companies decided to charge drivers £1.oo per day to carry on working for them wuold you pay it? bare in mind it is a tiny% of your earnings?

Is it April 1st already?

Why would a company charge £1.00 per day for the privilege of working for them?

I’m confused (easily done).

Tiger.

if a company wants you to train, they should pay not the £ukeeen driver. full stop.

Here’s a different argument. The company refuse to train you. Come the time you have to have the DCPC you don’t have one therefore you cannot be employed as a lorry driver. The company then sack you and hire one of the many 10,000’s of drivers who do have a DCPC. You then have to either pay for a DCPC or find a job other than driving lorries.

And for those saying its worthless, I point you to the hundreds of questions about basic drivers hours rules. If the DCPC wasn’t required, people wouldn’t be asking these basic questions.

Stupid retarded halfwit.

Coffeeholic, you’re wasting your breath on these retards.

Let em whine and moan and then when they’ve got no jobs come 2014, sit there and gloat.

Yes but the problem is that many of the DCPC trainers don’t seem to know the correct answer to those same basic questions either.

Resort to insults when losing the argument!

Well! Don’t like an opposing opinion much on here! Thought the site was owned by a publisher!

365 quid a year sounds worse than a pound per day

Although it wouldn’t be 365 quid when you factor in holidays or do you need to pay for holidays too, what about weekends should i pay my employer so i can have my rest days?

He must behaving a quiet day Sat at home bored ain’t ya got any DIY todo or he’s just spent that one hr tomany behind the wheel of his sprinter lol

selby newcomer:
bit of a strange question that, but if i did agree to pay it, i would get it back by puttin an extra half hour down per day

+1

I remember seeing a documentry years ago about a shoe company that was having trouble.
The workers agreed to work for 1 hr per week overtime free of charge.
The company went from strength to strength.

It’s the old question, take a pay cut and the company survives, or carry on as normal and the company goes down.

Years ago I worked for a coach firm based on the airport, and after around 6mths, they decided to bring in a parking charge - 20p / day, nothing really, but I refused to pay it, I said I’d rather park somewhere free and walk into work, but I’d be doing that at my scheduled shift start time, so I’d be late for work, depending how far I had to walk would depend how late I’d be.

I never had to pay, rest of workforce agreed to pay it, then complained that I wasn’t paying it, and why didn’t I stand up for them too etc.

Look after number 1, if you don’t want to pay for anything, then don’t pay for it, but don’t expect us to fight your battles.

I’d say so, not his fault we cant work 7 days a week.

well i expected a slightly higher class of opinion or even debate. sadly coffeeholic and connor dont seem to be able to debate, for all the slagging the facts are still the facts. drivers are being robbed. com 2014 i would like to bet that drivers over a certain age will be exempt. the fact is there is not enough training hours left to train a sufficient amount drivers. i will then gloat at the drivers who have not the balls to stand up to injustice.
i foolishly thought there was some remenanants of comradeship in the industry. As for those who think for one second they will gain a big pay rise in 2014 i am afraid you will be in for a shock. look at recent history to see the future. if you have the capability of understanding.

It lasts for 5 years, so you need to look for a cheaper training course

£1825 for a DCPC, WOW :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry 1824 quid I forgot the leap year

What the ■■■■ are you on about mate, no one thinks theres gonna be a big pay rise in 2014. You asked would we pay a pound a day to have a job and everyone pretty much has said no, whats hard to understand.

My full DCPC cost me £120. My boss paid the other half. We’re only a small firm and when I did it DCPC seemed to be of a bit of a mystery to everybody else at work.

I decided to do my own DCPC because I’m not comfortable in trusting my livelihood to somebody elses charity or organisational skills.

After I finished the course I recommended to my boss that he should just pay for the lads to do the fuel module once a year. It will save him a fortune.

He agreed. The lads got 7hrs DCPC and I got a £40 a week promotion, not bad for £120?

There are different kinds of solidarity folks.
