if company give to you opportunity and offer not bad money-Would you like driving to another country…when you will be in the road sometime 2-6 week.but not bosses around ,no planners, much more less time to tight access to delivery point.or you more like Domestic driving and see wife everyday.
I wouldnt object in the winter but I couldn’t be away from Silverstone for six weeks in the summer.
was once asked if I wanted to take a load to Ireland(if that counts),but I couldn’t be bothered with all the ferry crossing malarkey…so I told them I didn’t have a passport
I wouldnt be to keen on 6weeks but i’d be happy with 3-4weeks with a few days back at home so long as they were completely 100% above board!
I have no desire to ever sleep in a lorry again

Agree there mate, better than driving over here.

I wouldn’t have it any other way. 10% UK, and 90% abroad. lovely.

It certainly is , I used to do 2 weeks out in euro, would do 3 maybe longer ,depending on what i was driving , ie size of cab and storage space ect, but as long as they paid full money for compulsory weekly rest periods and for other things like 24hr+ferry crossings such as the Portsmouth -Bilbao and Helsinki -Rostock ferries as i have been informed that there is at least one unscrouplelous employer not paying drivers whilst they are on such ferries, as they aren’t driving they get a free cabin & food they shouldn’t expect paying as well , I personally would of booked the trailer unacompanied on such ferries, or not counted that time as a rest period ,maybe i should create a new thread about such employers, shame we can’t have a blacklist of them on here

Back in the early 90’s I worked for De Rooy in Eindhoven and used to ask my planners to keep me on the road. They were happy to oblige of course. Longest stretch I ever did away from the UK was 7 months. During that time home was a DAF 2500 with a sleeper pod. Yes, the kit wasn’t great but the money was unbeatable. As a single guy at the time I have nothing but fond memories and absolutely no regrets about it whatsoever. Kept my head down for four years, had a great time in the process, and saved enough money to emigrate to South East Asia.
P.S. In case any potential UK/Euro employers should happen to read this: I am just about to return to the UK and may be looking to do it all over again so if you are looking for a long haul driver that doesn’t mind doing long stints away then please PM me. Likewise, if any forum members know of any companies that are looking for a grafter please be kind enough to put them on to me. Thanks!
Living in the lorry full time for 7 years and counting so far. Do I win a prize?

I think you definitely deserve one
@switchlogic…Don’t forget Bertie. Surely you should both get a prize!

i’d do it but for no less than £1k a week.
I’d love to do it, certainly beats living out of a suitcase.
