stress will kill you…simple as that…if not straight away, then itl do you in much earlier in life with health probs both physical and mental…if your new jobs a breeze and you can live on lower wages, take the easy choice.2 weeks after you go back, then itl be as if you never left, and you will be driving about like a Rottweiler with piles 24/7…draw in your reigns and take the easy option. you die if you do,and youl die earlier if you don’t.
When I recently changed jobs I took a pay cut to do something less stressful. I can honestly say I couldn’t be happier. I’m sleeping properly for the first time in months, I’m not snapping and losing patience with the family and I just feel so much better than I did before. If you can live on the lower wage then you have to ask if the extra stress is worth a few more quid at the end of the week. You could always tell your new employer you’ve been offered more money to go back to your old place and see if he gives you a bit more. There is a driver shortage after all
Bugger that. I went on the buses in Brisbane for the good money, but it ■■■■■■ me up big time. What a grumpy, miserable, aggressive ■■■■■■■ I turned in to. Went back on the trucks, but took ages to get back to somewhere how I was before. Stay where you are and ask for the money you were promised.
Seems to me that you left for a reason, & that reason wasn’t cash. Of course they are struggling, they cannot find anyone else willing to put up with the crap you put up with. You’d be surprised how little difference £50 a week will make to your life after a couple of weeks. My mantra has always been “never go back”
I’d go back but it would be working to my rules however I’m one of those drivers who knows how to say no and won’t speed, rush around like a blue arsed flea or tip on break just to meet a stupidly impossible deadline. If you’re one of those people who find it hard or impossible to tell your boss no then don’t go back because you’ll end up in the same situation you were quite quickly.
I love it when you get an employer where you want them,i was allways having confrontations with my employer until I moved to a new area,i put my statutory notice in and they asked me if I could stay another month to help them out,i agreed and it was the best month in the two years I worked there,i could do nothing wrong

simple question really would you go back to a job you left 3 weeks ago if they rang you up and said they are not coping and offered you an annual rise of 2.5k to come back…
…Yes, they obviously value you which is rare these days in Transport, and the fact that they called you, and not vice versa, puts you in a good position to do the job to your advantage, as they will not want to ■■■■ you off enough to leave again.
Yes I was thinking that I think they took a guy on and he cant hack but they wont say that to me… thing is its gonna be awkward for the first couple of weeks but I suppose it will pass…
BUT stress is the biggest KILLER do you want a short life.
Thank you all for your replies and ur input its made me have a good think about things and to be honest im still undecided its a real headache this is
You left because of the stress. I must have been a serious choice as you went to a job that actually paid less to get away from the stressful job.
If you go back you’re selling your well being in return for stress for the annual price of 2.5k. I think that’s ■■■■ cheap. If someone told me they were going to make me stressed permanently in return for money I’d want more than 2.5k a year.
There is more to life than money. Only you can decide how much you need to live on so work it out and compare it to your current income. If it pays enough then stick with it. No amount of money will compensate you for the stress you would otherwise face. That stress could cost you your family one day. How much are they worth?

This +1… I left a job that paid money, that even today, 10 years later, would still be seen as top end, a bad week saw me take £800 , most weeks it was closer to a £1K , the downside was you were away 6 weeks at a time, worked every weekend and most of the work was night shifts, while the money was great, once my son was born , and I realised that , in this job, I would never see him grow, or be a major part of his life, the decision was easy, money isn’t everything, from then on I have always worked to live, not live to work
Update recently had another job offer from another access company this is getting crazy now also iv been speaking to my old boss the one who wants me back and iv been very honest with him with whats been going on and he mentioned why dont I set up a limited company and work for them all its a skilled job and could easily get 14 p/h easy and he also said he would offer me work straight away and put me in contact with other access companys aswell… iv been reading a few threads on here and I can see its mixed reviews but in my case I already have customers and if I can do my homework to see who else I can get on board then I might go for it but I will seriously look into it first…
Getting home chilled out is worth £50 a week easily, sit down with your other half and plan a budget, I bet you could save near to that anyway.
A job is only as stressful as you make it! All you need is the ability to say oh dear that’s not going to happen etc and all the stress goes out the window. I may have had to retire through ill health but it certainly wasn’t stress related. When the TM gave me an impossible deadline, I just said ok and it got there when I got there … even if it was the next day.
Just think, that £2.5k would pay for a nice holiday for you and the family
Can you live on what you are getting now
A mate of mine has just changed jobs although doing the same sort of work he is paid slightly less now but wouldnt leave as it is made easier less stress home at a sensible time his hr not maxed so he is much happier has more time not as tired when home so gets more done

not really mate like I said im about 10 hours short of what they said id be doing so im left with basically nothing once iv paid all the bills etc and thats with me dragging it out most days…
Just remember why you left
Only go back on your terms. They asked you to come back, so put your cards on the table, and tell them why you left. Then tell them you will come back, if they ease off on the pressure, plus more money than they have offered.

Cheers dave I think that is the way forward. …

You said the job was stressful and your new job is much more laid back.
Kids don’t want a stressed out dad and to be honest I’d rather earn £400a week and be happy than £500 and hate going to work.
