Would you drive this truck?

If you knew what had happened to it in the past? I’m thinking hell no! I don’t know if that would be acceptable (to insurers at least) in the UK, but I’m thinking that although it looks nice and shiny at the end, a good knock will see it fold up again in all the original crease lines.

With roof spots, chrome exhaust stack, and a screaming’ chicken sticker?
They’ll be biting your hand off!

The amount of creasing left in the internal reinforcement panels(cant rails) would render the cosmetic(outer beauty panels) repairs useless as the structural metal would split like a communal durex, let alone the fact the cosmetic panels will be wafer thin now thanks to all the grinding, pin pulling, heat used…

It’s like scrunching a ball of paper up, then trying to iron it out perfect.
Plus take into account the time/labour costs involved in countries like ours it’d be rendered scrap for obvious reasons, and if I’m honest as someone who’s worked the trade I’d have said bin it for safety’s sake.

Credit where its due though, they’ve got it going again with the most basic of shizzle which is wholely admirable, but I’d not fancy taking a knock in it, looks like it’s had a box dropped on it[emoji28]

Mechanic Steve is a legend though, no doubts.

Check these boys out…

End of day hats off to their industrious nature, we in the west really should take note of how much industry we could have back again if we wasted less, fixed, remanufactured again.

Would you drive James Dean’s Spyder?

There is a reason that insurance premiums go up for “Cat” vehicles…

I wouldn’t have driven that POS before it was smashed up.

OMG! Talk about Dodgy Brothers, Arthur Daily’s got much to learn.
I’m all for repairing and reconditioning, hell I’ve done my share of bush repairs too, but there is a limit. That Steve bloke is only a beautician, he totally lacks engineering nous and his trade skills are pretty third rate.

…Maybe they are actually embalming this vehicle? :stuck_out_tongue:

Perhaps it is for an “Open Crusher Service” to come? :unamused:

"Panels to Panels, Nuts to Nuts
…in the sure and certain hope of the recycling to tin cans that cometh when the trumpet shall sound,
…and the crushed shall be re-built - incorrustible! "

It’s not dead, it’s in a state of suspended animation, waiting to be reborn as an Hyundai.

The only points I’ll give him are for insanity.
Patching a chassis rail with mild steel and substandard welding, drilling the flange? That repair failed before I finished writing this post!

I will agree I can’t see it getting past the n-cap ratings, but,… it’s only gonna be jogging round the rice fields so I say top marks [emoji16]

Although i hope he weren’t using cellulose paint, panel gaps be the least of his worries after a couple lung fulls of that [emoji16]
