i used to work for these and other drinks firm, some guys started at both firms they would do tricks like this to get closest to the drop point, how they never ended up like the pier guys i dunno,

People want to drink and eat at end of the pier shows, how do they think that the goods gets there?.This might be standard trade practice but this time there luck ran out.Where is the H. and S. when you need them?

With a trolley or a barrow. I have done enough C&D work to know sometimes you have to carry stuff to the customers door or tradesman entrance.

The second longest pier in Britain, Southport Pier was first opened in 1860 with an original length of 3,600 ft. In 1868 it was further extended to 4,380 ft.

Southport pier has had several setbacks in its history, suffering from collisions, gales, and fire but none were as close to destroying the pier as in 1990 when Sefton Council applied to have it demolished, only to be defeated by a single vote.

Now a Grade II listed structure, Southport Pier, under the Southport Pier Trust gained sufficient funding to totally redevelop the pier with financing from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the European Merseyside Objective.

The pier now it stands at 3,650 ft in length and is open every day except Christmas Day. A boxing day stroll down the pier is actually quite a tradition in Southport.

There used to be a pier train on that pier, which they removed before they revamped it, they should have a suitable vehicle for transporting goods to the end of it, but trying to drive something that probably weighs around 12tonnes unladen on such a flimsy structure is being stupid to say the least,
i would of loved to of been a fly on the wall and listened to him explaining it to his boss

Silly boy lol.

The driver or the ones the pier’s made of

Excuse me gents regarding travelling down the pier to del goods, the place this driver was delivering to was at the land end[the start]so he could have stayed on solid ground and had no real need to go on the pier.
regards dave.
P.S.I passed this incident yesterday and was gobsmacked.

You cant really blame the driver for this can you , another driver probably told him that all the trucks went on to deliver and not to worry…You know what pier pressure is like :unamused:
