Would you do it?

Would you take a new driver who you’ve never met before on a trip abroad or at home to let them gain some experience?
I’m not saying get them to do all the graft, but maybe let them do 20% of the driving, show them the do’s and dont’s, CMR’s, Different toll systems, load security, etc. You don’t learn that on your test. and a leg up would help.
Not something your boss has put you up to to get a free driver, Just off your own back?
I was lucky, I got straight into a job. But the boss knew i’d done quite a few trips before passing my test (you can’t get away with that nowadays). But most are not so lucky.

Are you looking to go out on a trip with someone then Phil

Your stories may sound a bit more realistic once you get some firsthand knowledge of being in a lorry in a foreign country

Yeah, why not? The way I see it you’ve got a 50/50 chance of the fella being a tool or a good bloke.

If it turns out he’s a tool, put it down to experience and move on. If he’s a decent lad then you may have made a lifelong friend. Plus you get that warm fuzzy feeling from doing a good turn!

Not somebody who I’d never met before, no. I have taken friends away with me on trips abroad to help them gain experience shortly after passing their HGV test, but an extended spell with an unknown quantity would be a bit too much for me.

Yes I would if it was a family member it close friend.

A randomer? No way on this earth
