Would you cross a picket line?

If you are a tanker driver or not. Would you cross one of the picket lines?
If i was given a job to deliver machinery etc to a refinery while the strikes are on. I wouldn’t try to enter the site.

i would not want to cross the line either, being agency it makes no difference to me, but can see how somebody in a full time job might have a drama with it

hard one to call i reckon

Flipside

depends on whose picket line it is and where and also what the dispute is about.
crossed the picket lines at Hull docks years ago in a truck with painted out lettering etc.

no

Crossed one at Wapping during the print strike! Had to join the TGWU to do it, and the money!!! Bought my first house back then!

Depends what the picket line is about. If you’re referring to the tanker drivers at the moment, yes I would cross it.
About 3 years ago Chep on Trafford Park had a picket line outside, I wouldn’t cross it, I supported them.

no and hope i never get into that situation, people have long memories

no,as id be far from impressed by anyone who crossed one i was standing on.
its not a decision taken lightly goin out on the gate.if there was more support and solidarity in this industry it “might” get better?

I had to face this problem last year during the Royal Mail strikes.

First of all I had to cross the picket line at my own yard then I went out and did a long distance run to another yard where I was not known.

All I can say it was a very tough decision to make and I did not take it lightly at all. For me it was simple in the end with regards to my mortgage. I could not afford to strike any longer.

Would I cross a picket line in the future? Hard one to call. At the time I feel I had no choice.

If you’re a driver who has nothing to do with the on going dispute, I would chat to your union rep and your manager and see what their stance is on the situation at hand. Then I would think long and hard before you cross that line.

The outcome of my actions are that I resigned from my union, and some people will not talk to me at all. Not nice I know but hey its their problem.

When my mind is made up and I am focused nothing gets in my way.

NO NEVER ! and if you do for what ever crap reason you come up with , YOUR A SCAB !! no if,s or but,s . Koop , nice house is it !

when i was a bus driver, they went on strike, i wastn in the union, but just didnt turn up the days.
after more days off i found out 3 lads had cropssed the lines, and they wasnt sent out, infact spent all day in the canteen watching tv etc, i then found out the union men also got some money off the union when they were off, so i then said i will walk into work and also sit in the canteen, it never came to it, but i would have…

No.

bigusdickusgb would you not cross it because your spineless ■■?

You didnt back the uk fuel protests a few weeks ago, you didnt agree with the spanish strikes.

Now you wont cross a uk picket line which means you support it ■■?!!!

Make up your mind.

Yes I would cross the tanker drivers picket line, they are already on a good screw, how dare they… :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

I dont agree with strikes, so yes I would cross.

If it was a picket that didn’t affect my job then yes

Hmm …maybe if it was to pull stuff that was 100% for safety and/or environmental protection…as a sort-of ‘Clark Kent’ gesture - on a condition that the Union would accept the net-pay to keep things sweet. (I’m recent ex HM Forces and arguably naive - would that work?)

 Would be very happy to turn around at a picket line… however I think the tanker drivers need a dose of reality… why in the world do they think that they deserve a 13% rise :open_mouth:

I will do whatever I have to do to support my family, they come first before anything else. If I had to cross a picket line to do it then yes, I won’t have a problem with it and I won’t lose any sleep over it either.

If t tables were turned would the pickets cross your line if you were involved in a dispute, shell drivers have been known to cross other picket lines.
