currently working 5 days a week driving with current employer and never work weekends, thinking about doing abit of agency work on the odd weekends (one shift every fortnight tops) can my current employer say anything about this because obviously it will show on my digi card etc. cheers
Depends on your contract I suppose, our company doesn’t allow that I don’t think, check before you do anything…
A lot of companies forbid it in the contract of employment, you’d probably be best checking with your employer.
ok will do cheers for replies
What you’ve got to think about, is your WTD average of 48hrs + your driving limits of 90hrs per fortnight etc, if your extra curricular activites caused you main job an issue due to these, or say you worked a sunday for agency, then got stuck down the road on a friday night or whatever, might be a breakdown or something, he’s gonna be ■■■■■■
If none of that is likely to be an issue, just ask your boss if it’s ok, he’ll probably say “yeah sure” or he might say “no”

Don’t forget, training, including dCPC, and holidays all count towards your WTD average
We have to sign a form every Monday morning to declare any other work.
That includes driving and non-driving work away from our place.

There’s more than 20 days holiday
Yeah, I know, it was only a brief comment, research is possible on t’interweb, just a guide of what to look for.
You know what I mean, though. What you need is a ‘under the table’ job on domestic rules with no tacho’s
I used to do it years ago all above board, employer knew I was doing it.
I got taxed at the higher rate as it was classed as a second income, I don’t know if the tax laws have changed since but it someone on here will probably know

No, but you can get tax rebates on them.
Your 2nd job is basically taxed at Basic Rate, because the 2 accountants don’t have each others information, but you can claim back the excess taxes paid, as taxes should still be paid based on your earnings.
Going S.E. is actually a good idea in those circumstances as you have all the information required (your pay slip) and can just get an accountant to sort your tax out at the end of the year.
I’ve always been involved in agriculture and/or haulage since the age of 15 and weekend work is just another part of the week in some cases. If you don’t work weekends now, I wouldn’t recommend it! If the right job came along now, I’d bin my current self employment for it!
