Working hours

Not been driving for a few years .
Can you drive for 6 days every other week ?

yes provided you “pay back” any missing hours from your weekly rest by the third week.

I work from 14.45 to finish and do sun to fri one week then sun to thurs the next

If by “a few years” you still think you can split your breaks into 3 x 15 minute periods, I’d respectfully suggest you get hold of a copy of the up to date regs. That bit changed fairly recently (actually back in 2011, thought it was later, must be getting old!) and I’d hate to see you caught out.

This explains it quite simply, and as an added bonus there’s a bit on domestic hours which many might find useful;

If a few years is 5 or more, then likely your DCPC card is expired. Make sure you get a course involving tacho hours.

YES

Example for a rolling 2 weeks
M 6am to 7 pm
T 6am to 7 pm
W 6am to 7 pm
T 6am to 9 pm
F 6am to 9 pm
S 6am to 9 pm
S off = reduced weekly rest 33 hours with 12 to payback
M 6am to 7 pm
T 6am to 7 pm
W 6am to 9 pm
T 6am to 9 pm
F 6am to 9 pm
S+S off = regular weekly rest 57 hours which is 45 + 12 paid back

Remember you are a long time dead !

Nobody on their deathbed has ever said “I wish I’d spent more time at work”

Find a better paid job so you dont need to work long hours.

Before you start attacking me, dont waste your time I dont care.

Luv ya.

Digicard too. And if that requires an explanation then “a few” might mean as many as 15 or more years

To add to the answers already given, if you’re planning to do six shifts every second week and five shifts in alternative weeks you will need to keep an eye on the 48 hour average weekly working time rule.

It is dependant on the type of work you do but generally working six shifts then five shifts for any length of time is likely to see you having to have a substantial amount of time off before the reference period ends.

.

If they’re asking if they can still do 6 shifts every other week that suggests they want to max the hours so may not be too bothered about complying with the 48hr average and there seems to be plenty of small hauliers who do tramping who are happy to ignore it too.
