What I mean is that you’re not restricted to 13 hours shifts or 15 hour shifts 3 times week, you’re restricted to 3 reduced daily rest periods between weekly rest periods and that’s completely different to what you’ve said you was told.
You’re not restricted in any way whatsoever to 45 hours driving a week, you’re restricted to 56 hours driving per week and 90 hours driving in any 2 consecutive weeks, which again is completely different to what you say you was told.
You did say “The way I understood it”, I think we should all be hoping that you misunderstood what was being said, because if you understood him correctly he has no rights to be training anyone.
But in principal that’s same things. Normal shift is 13 hours meaning 11 hours break and three times per week that break can be reduced to 9 hours making an extended shift of 15 hours possible three times per week (between any two weekly rest periods). And you are right maximum you can drive is 56 hours per week, but your average over 2 weeks/year is still going to be 45 hours per week due to 90 hour fortnightly restriction.
The point is that 3 times a week is very different to 3 times between weekly rest periods,If you had a reduced weekly rest period mid week you could have 6 reduced daily rest periods in a week.
I’m glad we agree about that, but 56 hours a week is not the same as 45 hours a week, you originally said the trainer said you could drive for 45 hours a week not an average of 45 hours a week.

I don’t think that is possible, as a working week starts 00.00 Monday and finishes on 24.00 Sunday, correct?

That is the fixed week (week)
Reduced daily rests are between weekly rests and have nothing to do with the fixed week
Many get confused with the rules as some are for the fixed week (week) and others are for between weekly rests
It would be easier if they were all between weekly rests but that would be common sense …

This is exactly what I’ve been saying, you can have 3 reduced daily rest periods between weekly rest periods, when the fixed week starts or ends doesn’t come into it.
I realise that to many it will seem pedantic to differentiate between the week and between weekly rest periods, especially if you work Monday to Friday when it won’t make much difference to you, but you’ve shown why your trainer was wrong to say you can have three 15 hour shifts a week, if that’s what he said.

What are driver’s options if you are down to your last 13 hours before weekly rest kicks in and you are given a 300 mile job?
Depends how long the job’s going to take, saying it’s a 300 mile job doesn’t mean much, a 300 mile round trip on a motorway to do a trailer swap is an easy day, 300 miles each way on A roads with a 3 hour unload is a completely different story.
if the job can be done in the time you have available do it, if it can’t be done in the time you have available tell your TM you don’t have the available time to complete the job.
