This is one of the most challenging loads I have put on a lorry in all my time in haulage, 45 bags off 1 farm, the farmer had sheared over 1000 sheep, each wool sack was full but every time I stood on one it was like standing on water, I roped up after 2 layers and when I loaded on top of them the ropes went slack, more rope with double hitches and straps over the lot. The load got from the farm to it’s destination OK but it ended up about 10 feet wide, I have moved the same farmers wool for about 5 years now, I now have bars up the sides and put straps from front to back then ropes side to side, I moved the this years load a couple of weeks ago and while I was roping it on I joked with the farmer that by the time either me or him retire I will have this job down to a fine art.

Cheers wheel nut no its not mine mate not worked there since 1996.
Anyone remember Jack Rayner who had the small wool hauliers S Mann on Arthington St just across from the Woolpack Pub down White Abbey. I woulnt say the drivers that worked there were old but they were nicknamed Dads Army. Jack did a bit of Continental over to Belgium but it didnt last long. All long since gone.
