Woodside Haulage Preston

Anyone know what the current pay at woodside preston

As far as I know they taking around £700 including expenses … For a maximum hour week. Not well known for the best treatment a driver can get…

Forget it man.
Not worth the grief.

Not sure about days or roamers but I’m on £11.60 per hour for nights (guaranteed 50 hours). I’ll try and find out for you tonight.

Is it 4 on 4 off shift pattern?

If so, if you want to work 5th shift what is the pay rate for it? Is it a flat rate for extra shift? Or still by hour?

From what I can gather (no one seems to want to give a straight answer), days are on something like £9.50/£9.60 per hour. The 4 on 4 off shift is quite complicated because sometimes it straddles the pay week meaning that some weeks you could be taking home less than £400 and the lads doing it are having to do extra days to make up their money (that’s why I knocked it back). Extra days are paid by the hour I believe.

Is that about the average for the Preston area?

From what I can gather yes, although we may be on a little bit more.

I thought it was quite a low paying area, I didn’t think it was so poor.No offence like.

So there is no 50 hours guaranteed when you are on 4 on 4 off pattern? And they pay you just for days/hours you have actually worked?

I work in the neighbourhood (red trailers) and Mon-Fri and 4 on 4 off lads still have the same weekly money (55 hours guaranteed pay even for 4on4off’ers). Plus if you work extra shift you are paid by shift not by hours. So this is really good and everyone wants to be moved to this pattern.

Hi Luke, I was offered the 4 on 4 off shift just before Christmas last year. It was on the Cairnryan trunk on the Amazon contract, one week on the trunk, the next on locals. The trunk was £150 per shift, locals £140 per shift but I turned it down because if the set of 4 straddled our working week (mon-sun) you could end up taking less than half a wage home. I was told to make it up I’d have to do extra days but the hours weren’t guaranteed i.e. if I came in and worked only 5 hours I’d only earn 5 hours pay. Whichever way you looked at it I’d be losing money, hence turning it down. We don’t do the Amazon contract now and I’ve not asked the 4 on 4 off lads but I’m presuming their pay is still on the same scale. I have a mate who works for your lot on the 4 on 4 off and he gets paid for the 4 shifts, irrespective of when his days fall. If ours was the same I’d definitely be on that shift, it’s a no-brainer.

About the same as the other robbin shysters down the road.
Think they are called Montgomerys and then we got Bowker and Harry Parkinson !!!
We really do have the crem de la crem in Preston.
Hard to choose which one to slave for really.
