Woodhead Passed Closed Accident Longs of Leeds

In the 80s before straps were prevalent,. I used to load it on a flat.
You’d sheet it up fully, 2 30/20s and a fly, then rope every hook, double roping every other.
It did the trick, but again… as long as you didn’t drive like a ■■■■.

Whats sheets got to do with it, a friend of mine & yours states sheets were only used for keeping the load dry & certainly served no other purpose.

Quinny:
I bet it’s from Kronospan at Chirk.

Ken.

Saw a driver lose his load in similar circumstances, on the first roundabout from Chirk. He carried on for about 2 miles, oblivious to what had happened!

Suedehead:
Perhaps its just me but whenever there is a pic of an incident like this, there always seems to be a couple of plod/wombles stood around with their hands in their pockets

Well there isn’t really a lot else they can do is there? Once road is coned off and people stopped from coming up to it the only thing to do is sit and wait until it’s recovered.

If he’d had…

Proper mirrors instead of those new fangled camera thingy’s, he’d have spotted it straight away!

There was a hay carrying lorry with a bale hanging off just before slip at Grantham this morning , looked like he’d come from Melton then round r/o to go up onto A1 & bale had slipped , strangely I’ve seen 4 lorries with bales hanging off lately , all over country , yet I can’t remember one all those years previously
Nb coppers weren’t stood there , they were sorting out traffic
