within 16.5m?

been thinkin about a ‘do anything trailer’, and stepframe low loaders seem to do pretty much most things apart from obvious curtainside work. carrying containers, especially 40ft, is it outside the legal limit 16.5m?

Ive taken time out from haulage, im just curious for when i return to C+E next year after a spell in middle east.

If it is outside legal limit, i take it u need a STGO plate?

I think a Tilt with twistlocks is the perfect do it all trailer, its a flat, its a covered trailer, its open roofed, it carries coils and steel plate, everything except refrigerate really. And it keeps you fit

Would you say the combined length of the unit and trailer in the pic is within the legal limit of 16.5m?

The container is at least 12.1m so a third of that again and you’re at the limit.

I would say it’s well over.

Measured from the back, I would think that 16.5 metres runs out at the back of the cab.

Regards,
Nick.

If it’s width and weight are within the legal limits then no.
