anyone know what rates are for drivers,they are advertising local to me,2am starts 5 days over 7,think it was for class 2 multi drop…

i drive class 2 out of the Bridgwater dairy.
It’s £8.35 for first 39 hours then x1.5 for any over this.
x1.5 time for saturdays and double pay for sundays
and 23% extra for hours worked before 4am
expect to earn between £400 and £500 depending on hours

A tough job, i worked for there Loanhead dairy in Edinburgh over a decade ago. A premium rate was paid compared with what was on offer elsewhere but you certainly worked for it. 40 drops the usual with cash handling as well.
If your a class 2 driver your better off on skips or tippers at lower hourly rate i would say than wisemans. If your class 1 don’t even go there unless employed as a class 1.
I assume your looking at the Normanton depot. Make sure you have a face that fits and the deepest blue eyes otherwise . . . whilst you’re running around like a blue-arsed fly trying to do your 30 drops you’ll pass one of the in-crowd fast asleep in a lay-by in-between his 5 drops.
■■■■ poor management, inept supervisory staff and very, very cliquey. No such thing as POA, your run is designed to last 10 hours, but if you go over that’s your fault and you’ll pay it back with time off without pay.

My Dad used to be on tankers, he said you will work pretty much every day of the year but your week will go something like Mon-Sun and then you don’t start again till Tuesday-Sun and vice versa etc. Think that’s how it works.
