Basicly, I didn’t have wireless so i went out yesterday and got a wireless router and a adapter as the PC doesn’t have wireless built in but the laptop does.
So i got a Buffalo Airstation ADSL2+ Router and Buffalo Adaptor and my ISP is Tiscali.
So im reading the manual and setting it all up finaly i figure it out but i think i’ve gone wrong along the line somewhere and it says it’s connected but when i try and access it with my laptop and PC it says Local only and just has the 2 computers with no Globe around it like it should here’s a screenshot…
Says it’s connected there but when i open firefox up it just says Page cannot be Found.
Does this happen on the PC? I presume the PC is connected to the router via a network cable, but I can see in your task manager a Speedtouch icon. Is the USB modem still connected? i’m guessing yes as you have an internet connection.
Ok, here’s what to do.
Get the PC working on the net 1st, via the router. You’ll have to uninstall all the Tiscali software, as you’ll have to configure the router the with Tiscali settings, inc your user name and password. Check with in the Firefox setup that there is no Tiscali connection details. Your router will be handling these now, so it doesn’t need them. Same with IE.
Once you know the PC works, then look at the wireless config for the laptop. If the laptop is connecting OK, then internet should just work, but check it to make sure IE and FF don’t have any dialup settings.
