For those of you who were following this thread earlier this year we have now opened the first wireless hotspot at Irenes Cafe on the A426 just south of Lutterworth / Magna Park. Postcode for the satnavs is LE17 4HN. More should be coming over the Summer and I’ll post again as they come on line.

Wireless router for £80 and USB dongles for £32.50 !!! Not exactly competetive prices. I think you can get the stuff cheaper out of tescos !! You need to sort your site out as well its not easily navigable.

Hi Mike-C
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to bump this thread

Whilst I appreciate that your post was probably not meant as constructive criticism I did take your point on board regarding menus. Have made a couple of changes which hopefully make the site more easily navigable.

For the benefit of any reader who has been to Tescos looking for the equipment quoted on our site could I just mention that the prices quoted include VAT and UK Delivery and are for specialised equipment not readily available on the High Street. The USB device is designed for connection to an external antenna and the Wireless Client/Router is in fact a device that receives its broadband from a wireless source and then creates a subnet for wired devices attached to it. It’s primarily for people living on canal boats etc and as far as we are aware unique as a retailed router.

Thanks again for helping to keep this thread at the top / scriv

Scriv, it was meant as constructive critisism. I looked on the site and it wasn’t easy to find out how to buy airtime? I think i had to look under the prospective site owners section before finding any info. Staples the office supply people, have for sale a Belkin wireless router with a free USB dongle for £39.99, they where on offer a couple of weeks ago at £29.99. I realise they are pretty standard stuff, the pre N stuff covers a greater distance. I’ll go check your specs again.

Good point!
Hotspot Users can only buy airtime at a 1stHotspot site either online at the login page or by buying a card. The facility on the website is for site owners to buy airtime cards for resale. Hope that clarifies. Sorry I thought you were referring to the menus on the “in depth” pages which I’ve now upgraded.
